We're launching The Villages on Sunday!
First Church News & Updates - January 13, 2017

You must live in Texas when you have freezing cold one weekend and record warmth the next. And then we have a full moon and Friday the 13th all at the same time.

If we could see the full moon behind the clouds, we would see the beautiful Wolf Moon...so named by the Native Americans because it appeared when wolves howled in hunger outside the villages.

Enjoy this First Church news.
This week in worship...
Sermon Series
Sermon Series: You the Body
Each of us has a God-given set of gifts and talents that allows us to uniquely make a difference for Christ in the world. But the greatness of those gifts and talents is seen only in combination with the gifts and talents of those around us as the Body of Christ. How can we as First Church make our best mark for Christ in 2017 individually and corporately?
Sermon Title: "Are You Competing or Completing?"

Scripture:   1 Corinthians 12:21-31

Dr. Will Cotton will preach at the 9:40 and 11 am services. Rev. Katie Meek will preach at the 8:30 am CrossRoads service. One special aspect in worship this week is the launch of The Villages...come and learn all about it.   The Source , our weekly devotional guide, is available on the church website .

Please join us in worship this Sunday at  8:30 am (Sanctuary), 9:40 am (FLC), or 11 am (Sanctuary).

Welcome Home

Thinking about joining First Church? Join us for Welcome Home.
Welcome Home is an informal meal and conversation with First Church pastors about membership...membership expectations, how the church is meant to help us live out our faith, our church's story, and other topics guided by a Q&A. It is also a wonderful way to meet others who are exploring as well.  Near the end of the session, there will be a short joining ceremony for those who decide to become a member. A meal will be served at this relaxed and informative event.  Click here to register...

The Stewardship Connection...
Stewardship Connection
Good Stewardship...Make the Connection
In the spirit of New Year's resolutions, everyone is encouraged to help First Church conserve energy by turning off lights in meeting rooms when rooms are not in use. Everyone is also encouraged to close meeting room doors to keep the cool air inside the room and the humidity outside (or warm air inside when it is cold outside). Thank you for helping First Church be a good steward of its resources in the New Year!
