First Church News & Updates - January 20, 2017
Mission T-shirt Sunday

Last Sunday, the Outreach Leadership Team launched a new strategic vision called The Villages. In celebration of all the mission we do outside the church, we are asking you to wear the t-shirt of a ministry or organization you serve with. United Methodist Men, Mission Panama, Drive a Senior, Student Mission Trips...the options are endless. Wear your shirt and celebrate all the different types of mission we do. Make sure to check out other peoples' mission shirts, and if you're looking to plug in, ask someone about where they serve.

Enjoy this First Church news.
This week in worship...
Sermon Series
Sermon Series: You the Body
Each of us has a God-given set of gifts and talents that allows us to uniquely make a difference for Christ in the world. But the greatness of those gifts and talents is seen only in combination with the gifts and talents of those around us as the Body of Christ. How can we as First Church make our best mark for Christ in 2017 individually and corporately?
Sermon Title: "Keeping Your Spiritual Center"

Scripture:    Colossians 1:15-23

Dr. Will Cotton will preach at the 8:30 and 11 am services. Rev. Katie Meek will preach at the 9:40 am service. The Source , our weekly devotional guide, is available on the church website .

Please join us in worship this Sunday at  8:30 am (Sanctuary), 9:40 am (FLC), or 11 am (Sanctuary).
Welcome Home: Sunday, January 22. Register today!
Welcome Home

Thinking about joining First Church? Join us for Welcome Home.
Welcome Home is an informal meal and conversation with First Church pastors about membership...membership expectations, how the church is meant to help us live out our faith, our church's story, and other topics guided by a Q&A. It is also a wonderful way to meet others who are exploring as well.  Near the end of the session, there will be a short joining ceremony for those who decide to become First Church members. A meal will be served at this relaxed and informative event.  Click here to register...

You are invited to a three-week class to explore these questions: our history, our theology, our way of living, and our place in God's work and in our world today.  Led by Dr. John Clifford, Methodism 101 begins on Sunday February 12, and will meet at 9:45 am on Sunday mornings in Adkins Education Building 5-124.  For more information or if you have questions, please contact Dr. John Clifford, .
