Happy New Year!  
 
We hope everyone is having a great start to the year.  As a valued member of the NYPACE network, we are excited to share with you some highlights from the year past as well as our goals for 2014.
 
The numbers for 2013...
  • 12 active entrepreneur projects, bringing us to over 40 entrepreneurs served since the program's inception
  • 46 engaged volunteer advisors including many new members of the NYPACE community
  • 19 experienced business professionals comprising our Leadership Committees
  • 2 new board members added bringing the NYPACE board
    to 11 members
  • 4 networking and fundraising events including our most successful fundraiser ever in October!
  • 2 new episodes in our "I Love My Boss" video series highlighting NYPACE entrepreneurs
We plan to help even more under-resourced entrepreneurs in 2014!  And by doing so...
  • Double the number of entrepreneur project launches from 2013
  • Double the number of volunteer advisors from 2013
  • Increase Leadership Committees participation
  • Increase the number of events for our supporters, volunteers and entrepreneurs

PROJECT HIGHLIGHT

Please meet an entrepreneur currently in the NYPACE Program, Joy Hibbert of Love Joy Sweet Treats, Inc.  Love Joy Sweet Treats is an organic baking company, focused on using locally sourced ingredients.  Specializing in gluten, dairy, sugar free, vegan friendly and sugar based baked goods.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

 

NYPACE is always looking for volunteers to serve as Captains & Advisors on projects throughout the year.  Click here for information on current projects!

 

In addition, NYPACE currently has openings available for the following Leadership Committees:

 

Project Quality Assurance & Training Committee (PQT): Play an integral role in guiding the NYPACE entrepreneur advisory program! PQT members serve as project team mentors and assist our Executive Director in addressing project challenges when they arise to help ensure project success. PQT members also shape program improvements and new initiatives to better serve our entrepreneurs.  The ideal candidate has worked on at least one project as an advisor or project captain.

 

Entrepreneur Sourcing Committee:

Help find and screen entrepreneurs in need!  Members work with our Executive Director to cultivate relationships with various community development and micro-lending organizations in New York City. This committee screens and prepares potential entrepreneurs for NYPACE projects.

  SMALL BUSINESS FACT OF THE SEASON

 

President Obama mentioned small businesses several times in his state of the union including saying, "Let's do more to help the entrepreneurs and small business owners who create most new jobs in America... We need to work together on tools like bipartisan trade promotion authority to protect our workers, protect our environment, and open new markets to new goods stamped "Made in the USA."  China and Europe aren't standing on the sidelines.  Neither should we."
