President Message:
Dear Fellow Chapter Members-
I hope you are all thoroughly enjoying this Holiday Season with your friends, family, and loved ones. 2014 has been a fabulous year for many in the interior design industry thanks to the up-tick in the economy. I'm optimistic that 2015 will be an even better year for you all. We would like to thank the World Market Center for the fantastic multi-organizational Christmas Party that occurred on December 5th. It was truly a first-class affair, and allowed members from a plenitude of the local design industry organizations to mix and mingle. I am also proud to announce that there will be a new Interior Design Awards Competition for the Central California and Nevada ASID chapter that will culminate with an event at the World Market Center in July, during the Summer 2015 Market. We are still in the planning stages, and more information on this will be released shortly. Many of you will be attending the Winter 2015 Market here in Las Vegas that runs from January 18th, through January 22nd. Please remember to take advantage of our wonderful ASID Lounge, just one of the countless benefits that bring value to your ASID membership.

ASID MEMBERSHIP CEU REQUIREMENTS- DUE 2015 IN DEC!
ASID members have until December 31, 2015 to satisfy the 10 hours or 1.0 CEU requirement to maintain active membership. ASID will roll out new online courses available anytime to make meeting the requirement more convenient and accessible. Courses include:
Interior Design: Your Business Your Success, a course designed to help small firms make the most of their business and build a strong future. Participants earn 0.7 CEUs for each course. Spread the word to chapter members about these courses and review them at http://asidelearning.bizvision.com/category/business-courses |

Notification of Upcoming Chapter Election
Our Chapter Election is coming up!
The election ballot will be available on-line between January 15th and January 25th, 2015 for you to cast your vote electronically. Please watch for instructions on how to log into the voting site during the week of January 12th.
If you do not wish to vote on-line, you may request a paper ballot be sent to you. For a paper ballot, please call our chapter office at (702) 678-6797 or e-mail the request, with your current mailing address to: [email protected]. the office needs to receive this request before January 9th, 2015. |

Your challenge is to design a flexible workspace in an international airport to meet the needs of global professionals on the move. You will be provided with a retail shell floor plan as well as TouchDown's business plan to understand your client's business, operational and functional requirements. Design solutions will be judged on their vision, functionality, human impact, innovation and presentation.
Submissions open: Sept. 22, 2014
Deadline: Feb. 23, 2015 (No late submissions will be accepted.)
Judging will occur in March 2015 and winners will be announced in late March.
Entry Fee:
$70 (includes a one-year ASID student membership for first-time members)
$40 for ASID student members

This 1.0 IDCEC approved CEU course will provide its audience with more information about the impact of acoustics in design. Its main goal is to educate those in the design industry in regards to how important it is to incorporate A/V system in the design process and what crucial points to keep in mind while doing so. This includes the creation of an acoustically harmonious space and its impact on the daily life of a client. This presentation will also discuss topics such as home automation and new trends in "smart homes."

In recognition of the potential that technology continues to have for transforming the way interior designers work, ASID ICON is giving away a brand-new 3-D printer valued at more than $1,300 to one lucky ASID member. To enter, members should go to the ASID Facebook Page and look for Design the World, the ASID ICON Big Winter 3-D Contest Giveaway, log onto: https://www.facebook.com/ASID7 and provide your name, ASID member number and a few sentences (from 100 to 250 words) about: - Your experience with 3-D printers and the setting (school, office, home) where that experience occurred.
- Your opinion of the potential for 3-D printing to revolutionize (or not) the work of interior designers.
- What you would do with this 3-D printer if you receive it. How would it change the way you work?
Members of the ASID staff and the editorial staff of ASID ICON will choose 10 finalists based on the quality of the writing and the thoughtfulness of the entries. One winner will then be selected to receive the printer. ASID will cover the cost of shipping the printer to the winner. The winner and finalists may be contacted to participate in publicity and/or write about their experiences for ASID ICON.
Entries will be accepted until 11:59pm PST on January 31, 2015.
