Lobby Day Coming Up!

*The 2016 South Dakota Legislative Sessions begins January 12.  The SDDHA has hired Paul Bachand as their lobbyist.  The annual Lobby Day breakfast will be held February 8, 2016.  All members and students are welcome to join their Executive board at the capital that day.

*Attention should be given to the 2016 legislative bill shared between the SD Dental Association and SDDHA regarding collaborative supervision.  The proposed change would add an additional service between a dentist and a dental hygienist in a current agreement. The option would allow the hygienist to gather information using a limited clinical inspection and to use that information as an oral health review for the dentist to review.  This would be added as an additional way to provide a service in addition to the 13 month rules stating a patient must be seen by a dentist before any preventive services can be delivered.

* 2016 offers many changes in the State for Dental Hygiene!  Please be active and support your professional organization which is your voice for your profession!

We would like to thank Audrey Ticknor for her dedication and continued support for the Dental Hygiene profession. She has served diligently on the SD Board of Dentistry and has now completed her term of service.

The next South Dakota Dental Bo
ard meeting is January 15, 2016 and is open to the public.  This will be an opportunity to meet and greet our next Dental Hygiene representative.
