The Education Foundation staff would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year! With the beginning of a new chapter, we want to send a reminder of The Education Foundation's Online Auction being held on February 15, 2016! With that in mind, please consider participating in our auction by either donating valuable items or placing your bids.

Check out the excerpt below from accountants Schneider Downs & Co., Inc.:

"As part of the "Protecting Americans from Tax Hikes Act of 2015," Congress has made permanent the IRA Charitable Rollover.  With this legislation, charitable donors who are age 70½ or older can make a rollover gift of up to $100,000 from their IRAs to qualifying charitable organizations on a yearly basis.

This is great news for charities and charitable donors.  Many IRA account owners face not only income tax issues but also estate tax issues with large IRA balances.  This is a great opportunity to solve these problems and help a worthwhile cause."

Andres Romay Memorial Scholarship
CONGRATULATIONS TO:
Andrea Allen, Brian Boyd, Brittney Smallwood,
Darrell Willard, & Melissa Mckinney
who have each been awarded a
$1000 scholarship!

Background: Andres Romay lived from November 14, 1979 until November 10, 2011. Andres was always positive and spread his positiveness as a manager within Education Management Corporation's Pre-Admissions Department. Found within his desk were note cards listing what he was grateful for each day. As his parents stated at the time of his funeral, they put a bud out there in the world and it had really blossomed. At the time of his passing, Andres was attending Argosy University-Phoenix for his Doctoral degree in Business Administration. He believed that achieving smaller successes, such as completing one's education, leads to the larger successes in one's life. Andres would be proud to know his memory lives on in a scholarship that will help individuals fulfill their educational goals.
