December 31, 2015

We'll hit the ground running the first week of 2016 with the arrival of nearly 50 new models from Spark, TSM and CMC in both 1/18 and 1/43 scale. TSM and Spark will provide most of the excitement, delivering their usual wide selection of classic F1 and sports cars along with current GT releases and the first 2015 Le Mans models in 1/43 scale - including the #64 LMGTE Pro winning Corvette.

Three of the new CMC Ferrari 250 GTOs are also inbound. We can't wait to see them!

Looking forward, a shipment of the 2015 Le Mans Annuals is expected in early January. Demand for this year's annual is high after the Porsche victory. R eserve yours  HERE

We'll update you on some of the other annual books and DVDs next week.

If you need a calendar, only a few Cahier Archive and Pete Lyons Can Am calendars remain. Both feature photographs suitable for framing after 2016 is just a memory.

I've listed some of the new models below, along with a few new arrivals from December and a forthcoming book on American Motors and their various racing programs, including the Trans Am Javelins campaigned by Ronnie Kaplan and Roger Penske.

Enjoy!

Coming in January:
The History of AMC Motorsports
by Bob McClurg
When thinking of a manufacturer's racing involvement, AMC is not a manufacturer that immediately comes to mind. Yet even from the very beginning of American motorsports, the companies that became AMC had some serious commitment to motorsports. From the early Nash and Hudson models all the way through the muscle car era, AMC directly participated in racing. The success of Nash and Hudson in early NASCAR racing, AMC Javelins in Trans-Am racing, and AMC's involvement with Mark Donahue and Roger Penske in both their Trans-Am and 1970s NASCAR teams prove that AMC was "in it to win it."

The History of AMC Motorsports from veteran racing journalist Bob McClurg covers it all, from a Nash-American Motors cor- porate history, the first years of NASCAR, the 1960s efforts that included Trans-Am and drag racing Super Stock programs, to the Craig Breedlove land speed record efforts when 106 world records were shattered and covered by Hot Rod magazine. And let's not forget the 1970s Trans-Am championships with Donahue and Penske, and finally the NASCAR success with Bobby Allison in the always-curious-looking Matador, which is also covered here.
Never before has a single volume chronicled the events that encompass AMC racing history. Whether a hardcore racing history fan or a casual enthusiast of the AMC street offerings, The History of AMC Motorsports provides a unique showcase vital to every enthusiast's library.

As the dust clears after a very hectic December, I'd like to wish all of you a Happy New Year and thank you for your loyalty over the years.

Amazingly, the year 2015 marks 30 years since I launched 'The Motorsport Collector' as a part time business to pay for my racing. The sport and the hobby have come a long way since we began selling Alan Fearnley prints via magazine ads and a hard-wired 800 line in our living room. Over the years, we've had displays from Watkins Glen and Daytona to Indy, Mid Ohio, Road America, Laguna Seca and many points in between. It's been a pleasure supplying cool stuff to thousands of fellow enthusiasts from around the world and having the opportunity to meet some of the greatest individuals in the Sport's history.

Let's go another year!

 - Paul

We will be closed New Year's Day. Normal hours return Saturday at 10am.
