Meet Your Councilmembers: Geoff Blue
Happy New Year! In 2017, we'll be featuring each Castle Pines Councilmember in an edition of News & Notes so you can get to know them better. 

First up, meet Councilmember Geoff Blue who currently represents Ward 3. He's lived in Castle Pines for about 3 and a half years.

What's your favorite part about living in Castle Pines?
I love the small town feel of Castle Pines and its beauty.

What 2017 City project are you most excited about?
I'm most excited to see the growth of Castle Pines as the new developments begin construction.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I play rugby and cycle.

What's one thing people may not know about you?
I'm the Chairman of the board of directors of Rise Above Colorado, a non-profit dedicated to empowering teens to a life free of drug abuse; and the Colorado Meth Project which is dedicated to educating teens about the dangers of Methamphetamine and reducing first time use by teens.

2017 Budget Adopted
During the City Council meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 13, the final 2017 budget was adopted. Overall revenues and expenses are expected to be very similar to 2016.  See where the City gets its money and how it'll be spent in 2017 here

Lagae Construction Schedule
Construction on the Lagae Ranch development is starting next month, so here's what to expect this year. We'll keep you up dated as construction dates are solidified, and the schedule is subject to change based on unforeseen circumstances.
  • Lagae Road north roundabout: Near completion
  • Lagae Road realignment and extension: In progress through 2017

  • Monarch Blvd. extension to connect to realigned Lagae Road: Begins Feb. 2017
  • Improved intersection at Castle Pines Parkway and Lagae Road: Begins Mid-2017
  • Construction on residential units: Begins Summer 2017
About Lagae Ranch
Lagae Ranch is a new 249-acre development, which includes Elk Ridge Park, American Academy Charter School, about 630 residential units, additional open space and parks, and limited retail. Originally approved in 2008, construction is underway now and is anticipated to continue through 2018.
      

Welcome Councilmember Coudeyras!
Please help us welcome Melissa Coudeyras as our new Ward 1 City Councilmember! She was appointed during the Dec. 13 Council meeting to fill the vacant position after Councilmember Rex Lucas resigned due to a move. Melissa and her family moved to Castle Pines three years ago from Hawaii, and s he is looking forward to raising her two sons here and setting down roots.

Snow Resources
Let it snow! When a storm hits,  Castle Pines has access to up to 10 trucks based on need. The City maintains 36 miles of road, so as snow accumulates, snow removal crews concentrate on the primary streets first and then move to secondary and tertiary streets.

Primary roads, such as Castle Pines Parkway and Monarch Blvd., and school routes are considered critical to keeping our street network functioning.

Upcoming Community Events
Castle Pines Run Club
Are you a runner hoping to meet other runners in Castle Pines? Then join the Castle Pines Run Club! Between January and March, the club will meet at The Ridge, 1414 Castle Pines Parkway, every Wednesday at 5:30pm. Runs will be 3-5 miles and runners of all abilities are welcome. Runners will meet back at The Ridge's restaurant afterward for a post-run social! Please contact [email protected]
