FAITHFUL SISTERHOOD BIBLE STUDY
The Faithful Sisterhood Bible Study Group is offering a new study,  "Experiencing God" by Henry and Richard Blackaby, beginning in January.

God invites everyone to experience him in an intimate love relationship. Through biblical principles in this course, God can teach you how to know when he is speaking to you; recognize his activity around you; adjust your life to Him and His ways; identify what He wants to do through you; respond to His activity in your life.

"Experiencing God" will begin on January 17 and end on May 23.  This study will be held every Tuesday night, from 6:00-8:00pm, in the F105. Michele Kent will be
the facilitator for this study.

To sign up, please contact Michele Kent either by email  michelebkent@knology.net or by phone (850)238-5288.  Book costs and class details will be sent out to participants at a later date.

PROJECT MERRY CHRISTMAS
The PMC team wants to thank the contributers and the shoppers for putting smiles on the faces of children. May all of you be blessed from your giving and time.

THANK YOU TO WUMC
The children from the Madera School for the Blind in Uganda, where Woodlawn UMC helped fund the new well and toilets that we built wanted to say thank you personally. So some of the partially sighted students made this sign.

Thank you for your amazing support and generosity from everyone at Drop in the Bucket.

THE CDC'S KIDS CORNER
We had a wonderful turnout for our Birthday party for Jesus and had fun celebrating together. Some of the CDC kids also sang carols at the church's Christmas musical on December 11th.  We would like to thank Mr. Bill and Mrs. Cassidy for preparing the kids for their Christmas performances! We are looking forward to beginning the New Year with our students and staff as we continue to grow in God's love.
Happy New Year!

we care
WE CARE
In 2016 We Care provided assistance for more families that ever before. The number of large families seen has more than doubled in the last year, making it very challenging to keep up with the demand for assistance. All monetary donations will be gratefully received on Communion Sunday. During the month of January we can use additional canned fruit, Beefaroni, canned & dried beans, cereal, shampoo, large tooth paste & # 5 diapers.

MAN CAVE
The Man Cave small group meets the first and third Tuesday's of each month at RCM Interiors at 5:30pm. Young Dad's and singles men are encouraged to come and share time with our Mentors of Men. A meal is provided.

COLUMBARIUM -
WOODLAWN MEMORIAL GARDEN
A Sacred Place Where People Are Remembered
What is the  Woodlawn Memorial Garden?
Woodlawn Memorial Garden is home to our columbarium, a free-standing structure comprised of niches or compartments in which urns containing cremated remains are placed. Each niche is enclosed by a stone front, on which the name and years of birth and death of the deceased are engraved.

Why does Woodlawn UMC  have the columbarium?
There are many reasons, including...
  • Cremation is growing in popularity as an affordable and respectful option for planning funerals. It costs less than one-half the cost of traditional burial.
  • Providing a place for cremains is environmentally sound. A niche in a columbarium takes up much less green space than a plot in a cemetery.
  • People of faith commonly turn to the church when a loved one dies. Many find comfort in burial options that express the deceased's affiliation with the church and desire an expression of that affiliation to continue beyond death.
  • Offering an on-site burial option is an additional way for the church to minister to the bereaved.
  • It is a reminder of preceding generations, and a sacred place for contemplation on the meaning of faith and eternal life.
Why is the columbarium  important to me?
It provides peace of mind. Being prepared means your loved ones won't have the burden of trying to manage your wishes and the cost that goes with it. It is accessible and comforting and is the only columbarium in Panama City Beach.

Who may be inurned  in the columbarium?
  • Members of Woodlawn United Methodist Church
  • Immediate family of Woodlawn UMC members
  • Members of another UMC in the Alabama-West Florida Conference
For further information on the Columbarium or understanding the scripture as it relates to your final resting place, visit our website at  Columbarium  or call the Church office at (850)234-3196.
