Highlights & Updates
At the January Winter Retreat, Stratford Partnership participated in a "Head, Heart, Hand and Home" exercise, which allowed members to spend some time
thinking about their assets and interest, as well as other innovation activities.

Pam Mautte, Director of Alliance for Prevention and Wellness (a program of BH Care), presented to the Partnership about member engagement, types of members and membership, and the roles various sector represented.

Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. at CT Distributors, 333 Lordship Blvd.
Annual Health Fairs at ALPHA, Bunnell and Stratford High Schools
Interactive Educational Theater, in collaboration with Stratford Health Department's Public Health Nurse, performed various skits to tenth and eleventh grade students at ALPHA, Bunnell and Stratford High School about the risks of underage drinking and drug use and sexual health. 
Search Institute Survey Results Presentations
Brian Frazier (Coordinator of Fine Arts, PE and Health),
Christopher Koch (A ssistant Principal at Bunnell High School)  and 
Bernie Bova (Stratford Health Department Public Health Nurse) presented Stratford's 2016 Search Institute Survey results and STD data to Stratford Board of Education's Curriculum Committee and to all administrators and principals.

"Keep A Clear Mind" Activity Books
for all 6th grade students

STRIVE program students assisted in organizing, bundling and distributing
Keep A Clear Mind activity books, newsletters and incentives for all 6th grade students to complement the Great Body Shop curriculum.
 
Keep A Clear Mind is an evidence-based, parent-child, take-home program in drug prevention education. Each student will receive four activity books, four incentives and five parent newsletters. 
ABC's Asset Ambassadors promote
Asset #14 Adult Role Models 
 
Stratford's Asset Building Classrooms (ABC) Asset Ambassadors are promoting Asset #14 Adult Role Models in January and February as their Asset of the Month.

Community Updates:
  • As of January 30, 2017, the Medication Drop Box has successfully collected and properly di sposed of  3,618.4 pounds  of medications since October 2013.
  • The Wayne's Walk "Safe Rides" program, in collaboration with Uber, has successfully provided over 1,500 rides to over 600 different riders in its first year. Other local communities are looking to duplicate the program due to the continued success.
  • 2017 MONEY grant recipients, click here.
  • The South End Community Council, in collaboration with the Town of Stratford, Internal Revenue Services, and other agencies prepare income taxes for individuals and families who earn less than $52,000 annually. The V.I.T.A program operates on Thursdays at the SECC starting January 30, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Also, the program will be at Franklin Elementary School on Mondays starting February 6th, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  All sites prepare taxes by appointment only.  Call (203) 377-0689 to schedule an appointment.
