Welcoming the New Year brings new staff to TSC

In addition to the reminder of the three TSC-sponsored conferences this year (our 'Save the Date' flyer can be found HERE), we want to introduce you to the staff changes that have recently occurred.

Kimberley Fonner, OCT (Oblate of the Community of the Transfiguration) has served as the Marketing Director and then the Assistant Director of the Spirituality Center since TSC's earliest days in 2011. In November 2016 she was called to serve more directly with the leadership of the Community of the Transfiguration as the Sisters' Administrative Assistant, and has become a key member of the staff at the Convent.

We are pleased to announce that the Rev. Anne Reed, a deacon and former member of the staff of the Diocese of Southern Ohio, has joined the staff of the Spirituality Center, and is taking on many of Kimberley's former responsibilities, as well as pursuing opportunities for engaging with the wider community.  Anne is also available to work with individuals and groups in planning their retreats and gatherings.

Spiritual Practices to
Nuture Your Soul

Rev. Jane Vennard
February 3-5, 2017

Spiritual director and author Jane Vennard will spend a winter weekend with us at TSC looking at practical yet inspired ways of seeing and being in the world.

The retreat begins with dinner Friday evening, followed by an "Introduction to Spiritual Practice". Saturday the teachings on Care of the Body and Letting Go, Hospitality, and Silence will be both experiential and reflective. Sunday morning the topic will be Service, concluding at noon.

This retreat is a wonderful opportunity for individuals from any faith practice or no faith practice. If you are part of a small group that wants to experience a retreat together, this retreat could be an excellent opportunity.

As the title of one of her seven spiritual books suggests, being "Fully Awake and Truly Alive" is the goal and the reward of spiritual living.

Spend time at TSC with Jane Vennard next month and reap such fruitful blessings for yourself.

The retreat runs Friday evening through Sunday morning, February 3-5, 2017.

Overnight rate is $250 for single room and all meals.

Commuter rate is $140.

Retreats based on the writings of Brene Brown:
Gifts of Imperfection and Rising Strong
February 6-10 and February 10-12
Registration Open

Pastor Mary Laymon, a certified facilitator in Brene Brown's "Daring Way" and "Rising Strong" workshops, will lead us in conversation about the work of the noted writer during the course of two retreats: February 6-10 will be "Gifts of Imperfection"; February 10-12 will be "Rising Strong". A flyer for the two workshops can be found here.

"We are hard-wired for connection" is Brown's way of saying that God created us for life-giving relationships. Indeed, learning how to love well is our life's work. She has spent her career studying how we connect in our relationships, and what gets in the way of love.  In her book, The Gifts of Imperfection, Brown offers ten guideposts for living a "Whole-Hearted" life. Join us for a 5 day workshop as we discuss these guideposts and consider how we can cultivate them in our day to day lives. (Maximum of 20 participants)

"Gifts of Imperfection" workshop begins Monday, February 6 with 8.30 am arrival and concludes on Friday, February 10 at 3 pm.
Cost is $350 per person plus $20 for supplies.

In the seocnd workshop, we will study what Brown learned about how the 'wholehearted' rise strong after failure. The retreat will provide practical tools to engage those moments in one's life when living brave leads to a struggle.

"Rising  Strong" Retreat begins Friday with dinner at 6 pm and concludes on Sunday at 3 pm.

To reserve a place call 513.771.2171 or email ctretreats@gmail.com. Payment can be made on line through PayPal at ctretreats.org, or by check.

"You shall love the stranger first of all because you know what it is to be a stranger yourself. Second of all, you shall love the stranger because the stranger shows you God."

May your encounters with others enliven your awareness of God.
