JANUARY 2018

A message from the President & Founder, Lauren Genkinger

I want to take this time to thank all of you who sent in donations to AGA this past year.  Having enough money to save goldens who have been abandoned and in some cases abused, makes all the difference to these dogs.  They are confused by being misplaced and hurt by injuries sustained.  Not having to make decisions based on "how much it will cost" makes AGA a very special and different type of rescue.  From day 1 we set out to do extraordinary things when it came to helping golden retrievers find loving new homes because when you volunteer with AGA you believe life is better with a golden retriever.

When we follow up with the nearly 4,000 families we have adopted our goldens to, they tell us wonderful stories how their golden has made their lives better in so many ways.  When you see a golden smile you will never forget it and when you see a golden scared and lonely, you will never forget that as well.

Thank you for adopting a golden and supporting us as we enter our 15th year.

ORPHAN OF THE MONTH
Dakota

Since I have been in my foster home I have made a very good impression!  I'm 7 and I left my other home because of too many dogs there.  I don't mind staying by myself if the grown ups have to go out.  I wait patiently and take care of everything and when they come home, I wag my tail and run to meet them.  And here's the best part, my fosters say I am the most totally sweet girl ever.  I have good manners, love affection but I'm not a pest!  I don't get on furniture without permission, don't chew on anything that belongs to people and am the best foot warmer dog ever!  Yes, foster dad lets me sleep on the bed at night!  Click here to read more about me. AGA and my foster mom and dad say I deserve a kind and loving owner so could you be that person?

Adoption Day
Sunday, January 7, 12 noon - 2 p.m. at
4958 Lower Roswell Rd #124, Marietta, GA 30068

The 2017 AGA Matching Donation Campaign has raised more that $135,000.  The largest amount ever raised!

Thanks to the generosity of everyone and especially our wonderful matching donor of the first $30,000!

A big thank you to Lucky's Burger & Brew for making AGA the recipient of their Santa Paws fundraising events at all three locations (Emory Village, Brookhaven and Roswell).  The events raised nearly $1,000 for AGA.  Here is a photo of owners Diane and Ernie Geyer and Lucky.

  Golden Gala Story

I've always called our Gala "the best golden party
in town."  We're making some wonderful changes
in the next Gala which will assure that it is
no exaggeration!

We are changing locations - going back to where our first gala was held, Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre - easy to get to right off I-75 and we are having it on May 5, 2018, that's Cinco de Mayo!  So, bye bye Goldentini's and hello Goldaritas!  We are going to have lots of new surprises.

Our auction will be online prior to the gala so
if you can't go to the Gala - you'll have a chance to get some great deals.  If you have anything to donate this year - please contact Lauren directly at lauren@adoptagoldenatlanta.com, and if you've donated in the past, expect a thank-you call from Lauren.

Our Emcee will be retired WSB-TV anchor, John Pruitt and his Turkey dog, Sully Pruitt.  The Pruitt's are great fans of AGA and AGA is so proud to call the Pruitts family.

The Golden Gala is right around the corner and we're looking for enthusiastic & ambitious people to help solicit and collect items for the silent auction.

We also need help with sending out invitiations, advertising the event, providing volunteer support before, during & after the event.  We will have monthly planning sessions to make this the best Gala ever.

We will have a whole new look and theme this year and are looking for a solid group of volunteers who can help the event chairs ensure a successful event.

ASK THE VET

Pet Insurance costs $38-70/month and
covers a significant portion of vet bills
that can cost us $5,000-$10,000 a year.

ASK THE TRAINER

New and longtime dog owners often overlook their pets when making New Year's resolutions.  This year, try these changes that will benefit your dog.
