I hope 2018 will be a great year for you. What are some of your heart's desires? What steps can you take to make your visions real? These are important questions for each of us to ask ourselves as the New Year begins.
I am envisioning a
world class venue and a
large, enthusiastic audience welcoming me and
band of 7 fabulous musicians to play my
2018 Moments album. An ideal release time would be in May or June. Might you have a vision of where we might play? Please write to me with your ideas on what an ideal venue might be!
I am also excited as I begin writing new songs for my
2019 In Grace album. I recently
wrote the first song for this album,
"Alone," and look forward to orchestrating it once Doug Hammer and I are done with all the editing for my Moments album.
Terry Smith and I were part of the December Boston Association of Cabaret Artists Performance Showcase at Amazing Things Arts Center.
On January 13, we welcome singer/songwriter duo Mary Casiello and Dann Russo, who perform as Three At Home, to the Music Salon. Rowan Wielblad will be our featured visual artist.
Sadly, the first snow storm of
December snowed out our
Music Salon. We've rescheduled
David Scott and Mark Shilansky to be our featured musicians on
April 7, and painter Lidia Scher will be our featured visual artist at
the Music Salon.
On January 14, I will be leading a Listening To Your Body...Following Your Heart workshop in Newtonville.
This month's featured article is "Self-Care and Empowerment in Crazy Times." This past year, the political arena has been scary, crazy and at times, truly unbelievable. With changes we may not agree with in the very infrastructure that holds our lives, how do we stay empowered and take care of ourselves?
I look forward to playing a set of original songs at
the Loop at the Armory Cafe in Somerville on Thursday, January 25.
Linda's four albums are available on CD Baby, iTunes, Amazon and Spotify or contact Linda at lsmheart@aol.com or (617)913-0683. Linda's Moments album will be released in 2018.
If you would like to experience the heart-centered body psychotherapy work I do, and be part of a community of literal "helping hands," you can attend the monthly
Community As Healer Group in Newton on Sunday, January 7 from 2 - 5 pm and Sunday February 11 from 1 - 4 pm.
Your comments and feedback are always welcome!
Heartfully
Linda
"Listen to your life...
touch, taste, smell your way
to the holy and hidden heart of it,
because in the last analysis,
all moments are key moments
and life itself is grace."
"How wonderful it is
that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world."
--Anne Frank

gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage."

Self-Care and Empowerment in Crazy Times |
"Some people are like frogs in boiling water.
Others blink and choose to go to sleep.
Special ones dare live inside the moment.
Courageous soul deep divers pave the way."
From "Alone" ©2017 Linda Marks
2017 was a year of truly crazy times. Fake news. Alternative facts. Tweets and more tweets. Russian hacks. Questioning global warming. Dismantling the tax code. Unraveling health care coverage for millions of people. The #MeToo campaign, with celebrity after celebrity, well-known political figures in the spotlight for sexual harassment and more, unleashed an avalanche of stories from the shadows. Overwhelm and overload. Every day seemed to bring with it a new low.

What is EKP?
|
EKP is Emotional-Kinesthetic Psychotherapy, a heart-centered, body-centered psychotherapy method Linda Marks developed and has taught and practiced for nearly twenty years. Working with the heart, touch with permission, the wisdom of the body and the intuitive guidance of the spirit, EKP creates a special sense of intimacy that deeply touches and transforms most all who participate.
Participants can be "client," witness or helper as an individual group member has a "turn" to do deeper heart-centered, body-centered psychospiritual work in the center. Since the electromagnetic field of the heart extends out 10 - 12 feet from our bodies, as we go deeper and open our hearts, we are all touched.
EKP helps restore our capacity as organs of perception. The skin is our largest organ, and a source of soul deep knowing, perception and expression. When our hearts and hands can work as one, we move beyond defenses safely and respectfully and find freedom, connection and expression.
Emotional safety is the foundation of EKP. When we are emotionally safe, we are more aware of feelings, sensations and deeper thoughts in our bodies and hearts. You will have a chance to listen to and care for your heart as you help create and hold a safe healing space for everyone's heart. Experience what we mean when we say that in EKP, "when anyone has a turn, everyone has a turn." |
