Merry Christmas! There aren't too many days left to share this wonderful message.
As this is a new year, only 3 days old, and full of promise and possibility, I want to encourage you to set aside about 20 minutes of prayer in the next couple of days. During this time of prayerful meditation, ask this question of God: "How can I serve you best in 2018?"
While our world, community, and parish all face challenges in the next year, we serve a God who will equip us to meet them. Perhaps God is calling you to parish leadership in service on the Vestry. Perhaps you are being called to expand your outreach ministry, turning your eyes to the hurting places of our community.
God has a purpose for you. And the best way to hear it is by listening.
Epiphany at TOTH

Saturday, January 6th
6:00pm Epiphany service and potluck
is this Sunday, January 7. Please bring non-perishable food, cleaning supplies, paper products, etc. for LA Cares. Thank you for your generosity and helping people in need!
As we approach a new year, opportunities will be opening up for you to serve on the Vestry, the governing board of the parish. Vestry members serve for three years and serve as representatives from the Vestry to a ministry of the parish.
If you sense God is calling you to serve our parish as a leader on the Vestry, please get in touch with Fr. Chris, soon.
Find Rest for your Soul:
A New Series in Christian Development on Sunday Mornings
It is wonderful to worship with our church family, to pray and come closer to God. But what of the more practical side of our lives - how can we best walk in our faith in the daily challenges we face every day? The New Testament is chock full of answers to nearly every problem we might encounter. Join us in Sherrill Hall at 9:30 a.m. each Sunday for a new series in Spiritual Development: Find Rest for Your Soul: Christian Approaches to Life's Challenges. Starting on January 14, Steve Younger will present a series of ten discussions on how we find guidance and inspiration from the teachings and parables of Jesus Christ. Topics include Belief and Doubt, Health and Sickness, Forgiveness and Guilt, Confidence and Anxiety, Success and Failure, Fellowship and Solitude, and much more. Come and join us to hear how Christ's teachings can help with every delight and challenge in life!
The Next Smith's Bucks order is due NEXT Tuesday, January 9
Kroger, the parent company for Smith's gives TOTH a percentage of your dollars when you load up cash value one of their gift cards ordered through TOTH. You get your full dollar value on your card! Smith's Bucks card users have noticed that these cards work easier at the register than any other payment method!
If you don't have a card yet, just put a check in the plate on Sunday or bring it by the office by Tuesday noon and write "Smith's Bucks new card" on the memo line. We'll order you a card and let you know when it arrives (usually by Friday). When you reload your card, the funds usually appear on the card on Thursday of the same week.
The next deadlines for Smith's orders are on the Tuesdays during the week immediately after LANL paydays: Jan. 9 and 23, February 6 and 20.
Mark your calendars! Thank you for your participation!
The Mitten Tree will remain up in Kelly Hall through Saturday - Epiphany!  Especially needed are CHILDREN'S mittens, gloves, & hats. The Epiphany  (January 6)
O  God, by the leading of a star you manifested your only Son to the peoples of the earth: Lead us, who know you now by faith, to your presence, where we may see your glory face to face; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
A wide range of resources, from prayers to videos to study guides, are now available from the more than 25 partners presenting the Good Book Club, an opportunity for reflection and prayer.
The Good Book Club is a churchwide program that invites the reading of the Gospel of Luke and the Acts of the Apostles during the liturgical seasons of Lent and Easter 2018.  Led by   Forward Movement,  the Good Book Club readings begin the Sunday prior to Ash Wednesday (February 11, 2018), and finish on Pentecost (May 20, 2018).
The Good Book Club, the Presiding Bishop has said, provides an opportunity to "read, mark, learn and inwardly digest the Holy Scriptures."  He noted that "The Gospel of Luke tells the story of Jesus" while "the Acts of the Apostles tells the story of those who followed in the footsteps of Jesus."

Updates and Status of the Search Process for our next bishop.
The Bishop Search Committee remains on track following its two-day meeting December 11-12 that involved video interviews with the remaining seven candidates.
Both committee chairs, Roy Benavides and Deacon Beth Noland, were happy with the sessions.
"I am pleased with the search committee's efforts and their diligence in the search process and further pleased with the quality of candidates that we have to consider," Benavides said. "As we work toward the completion of our task, I am excited about the level and quality of the candidates."
Said The Rev. Noland, "The committee is on schedule regarding interviewing our applicants and that process will continue into January."
The committee will continue to evaluate the candidates in the period before its next meeting January 12, at which time it will determine which candidates to invite to Albuquerque for face-to-face interviews.
The Rev. Noland said the committee was grateful that it was on schedule, adding, "We thank the people of this diocese for their prayers and ask that they please continue to pray for this process. It is going well."

Somos Amigos Update...
Dear Work Crew,
Start the new year off with a renewed commitment to the Somos Amigos' projects!  We need all sorts of volunteers, so please get in touch and we can see where your skills can best fit in.
We will be starting the new year with a project near Abiquiu.  This weekend we will be doing some simple framing and some window and door repair.
Our client is trying to take care of her son who was recently partially paralized.  She also lives with her daughter and grandchild.  We are trying to make things a little easier for her--at least in terms of the home repairs we can do.
Please consider giving to our program this year--with your most valuable asset:  your time.
We will be meeting this Saturday, and the rest of the Saturdays this month, at 9:00 a.m. at our office in Espanola.  If you are interested in coming any of these days, let me know.  I will give you further directions, and I can schedule you for the work that most fits what you are comfortable with.
Remember we need volunteers of all skill levels!
Thanks for a successful 2017.  With your participation, we can help many more deserving people in 2018.
     Take care and stay warm!
