ACTION REQUIRED! Attention Parents of Current 6th Graders - Whooping Cough (Pertussis) Tdap Vaccination
Students entering 7th grade next school year are required by law to provide proof of a whooping cough booster or Tdap shot (Td does not meet the requirement). Students will not be admitted to school if proof is not received before the first day of school.

Bring an updated copy of your child's immunization record showing proof of Tdap to the school office now. Do not mark or highlight this record. If there is a verified medical condition against vaccination, you are required to provide the school with a doctor's written statement. The information required in this statement may be found in the FAQ section on the Shots for School web site (see link below).

Acceptable proof of immunization includes:
  • Print-out or copy of immunization record from your child's clinic or physician's office
  • copy of the yellow immunization record
  • A certification of Tdap booster notice from your child's clinic, physician's office, or pharmacy
All these documents must have your child's name, date of birth, and date Tdap was administered, and a stamp or physician's signature from the clinic.

For more information about the law and whooping cough, visit shotsforschool.org here, or contact Nancy McMahon, Health Services Assistant, nmcmahon@mpcsd.org or  (650) 321-7140, x5912

Tips for Biking (and Walking) Safely in Rainy Weather
  • It's often dark during school commute times and rainy season is here. Help your Hillview student make the trip safely by being highly visible to traffic.
  • Wear a neon-colored helmet, jacket, and/or rain gear. It can be hard to remember to put on a bike/walk vest. But if your gear is brightly colored, you don't have to think about it.
  • Allow extra time to get to school when weather is bad. You may have to navigate a higher level of traffic and going early takes the pressure off.

Yearbook Dedications and Baby Pictures
Celebrate your 8th grader! D irections on how to submit a baby picture of your student (free) and create a yearbook dedication (for a fee) can be found in the pdf  here . Space is limited, so turn in your pictures quickly.

The deadline for creating and submitting your ad online is Friday, February 24, 2018. Direct your questions to Amy Kingsley  here.

Our next meeting will be on Tuesday, January 9, 2018, 3:30 - 5:00 p.m. in the large conference room in the Hillview Office. At o ur next meeting we will be reflecting on the new student wellness program and considering potential topics for the rest of the year.
