Visitors to the Viking plant on the Bass River are often surprised at the amount of work that goes on during the winter but in New Gretna, boat building is a 12 month operation and has been for more than 51 years.  Early morning frost is merely a minor inconvenience.

Good planning allows us to take the weather in stride. Here a new Viking 62 Convertible, two days prior to its water delivery date, enters one of our massive heated buildings to have its flying bridge enclosure installed before it heads south.

Already in the water with its engines, generator and electronics warmed up and raring to go, a new Viking 42 Convertible heads for the starting gate on its southbound trip to Riviera Beach, Florida, where this popular model will join 14 other Viking yachts at our 20th Annual Viking VIP Boat Show Preview, January 29th and 30th at the Viking Yacht Service Center.

Activity in the sub-assembly workshop in our wood mill is non-stop, as a Viking shipwright builds the upper galley cabinet for a 52 Sport Coupe that will deliver in April.

Our tireless computer operated five-axis profiling milling machine relentlessly carves plugs like this open bridge lounge seating and sun pad for a 75 Motor Yacht that will be transformed into another flawless production mold where form and function meld seamlessly.

Our delivery schedule continues all winter as another Viking 92 Enclosed Bridge Convertible, 92105, gleams in the waning afternoon sun as it leaves the basin, heading for its home port.
