TAPPY NEW YEAR!

Hello everyone,

It's 2018 and we're cooking with gas!

Both our Youth and Adult Education Programs resume on January 2nd, and we have numerous up-coming studio events scheduled and/or in the making so be sure you check the schedule often as things tend to move around.

The amazing Brenda Bufalino will be back in the studio for a FIVE Week Workshop starting January 3rd, and we have also added a Basic Level Class, which will be taught by Felipe Galganni for those of you who graduated from an Absolute Beginner Workshop or just in need of a refresher course.

Join us for a reception/jam on Friday, January 5th (7:30-9pm) to "break" in our new floors and thank all our floor drive donors. Guests of honor will be Nancy & Joel Kremsdorf.

By the way, our next meeting for the Adult Task Force will be held on Thursday, January 18th! Join us.

In February, we have TWO new (4) Week Workshops with Lisa La Touche and Jason Bernard as well as our first annual Winter Tap Carnival on February 16-19, 2018.

We continue to raise funds to support our programs, so if you're so inclined, you can make your tax deductible donations by visiting us at: nycharities.org

And, don't forget to visit our News & Events page for detailed information on this and any other upcoming activity.

Cheers!

"I love tap. As far as I can remember I always loved tap. I saw a Fred Astaire movie, then Stormy Weather with the Nicholas brothers and that was it.

Walking down the street in Soho one day I heard tap dancing and there was Woodpeckers. Brenda let me take her class, I had studied tap as a teenager. Sometimes we saw the elegant figure of a legend with a beautiful smile, Honi Coles was there. Once during a workshop Gregory said: Better late than... someone added: Never... Still useful to this day. The American Tap Dance Orchestra was rehearsing and touring. The word choreography had landed in the world of tap dancing.

New York, tap dancer's paradise with the incredible dancers and extraordinary teachers. New York becoming a ghost city. The tapping feet keep tapping and tapping. Woodpeckers closed. ATDF opened. The Tap Youth Ensemble is rocking the studio. Brenda, daughter of the sun, is still dancing. I am still taking her class and it is still a source of inspiration. I am dancing on my scaffold while painting murals, careful not to fall. Dancing in the park, I think that the squirrels like it. Dancing on the train platform. Dancing in the streets. I'll put it in my film, scene after scene, class after class, performance after performance, sound after sound, rhythm after rhythm, practice after practice and practice again. The joy of dancing, the shoes of many colors, the sweat dripping onto the floor, the holes in the floors, the metal against the wood, the soles sliding on the wood, the beautiful steps, again and again. It's a wonderful day I am dancing!" Dorine
