"A world where everyone has a decent place to live..."

Happy New Year!
I hope your holidays were filled with joy and love.

I'm not one to make new years resolutions or try out new things on the drop of a dime; I like to do my research before committing to new endeavors. Lifestyle changes are gradual and meaningful to me. As I embrace this new year in a new town in a new state, I look forward to continuing my journey toward making everything that I do more meaningful. Moving over 1,000 miles with only the items I could fit in a car forced me to be conscious about the items that are important and valuable to me. Pairing down my possessions has been on my 'to-do' list for quite some time, but this move forced my hand. I'm now able to worry less about my stuff and spend more time experiencing all that my new home has to offer.

Sometimes it takes a big event to push us in the direction we've been staring at for far too long and other times we can simply will ourselves into creating that change. Regardless of how we get there or what we are seeking to change, it feels good when we begin to see progress. Positive change and growth has a ripple effect, and when we begin to better ourselves, our communities and the world begin to change alongside of us.

So as we gather ourselves post-holiday festivities, may we enter the new year with a renewed vision for continuing to create "a world where everyone has a decent place to live."

Here's to continued growth and new beginnings,

Tiffany

Welcome, 2017!
THANK YOU!

We would like to send a huge thank you to everyone who made 2016 a success! From our volunteers to our donors to our partners, we give you a round of applause for your work and dedication to the mission and vision of Habitat for Humanity in providing safe, affordable housing in Pierce and St. Croix Counties and around the world.

As 2016 came to a close, we continued to receive the blessing of donations. Thank you for your financial support of St. Croix Valley HFH. We're always amazed at the generosity of our community. If you didn't get the opportunity to donate before the end of the year, consider starting 2017 with a financial gift. Let's make 2017 our best year yet!
What's New?
Homeowner Applications Now Open!

We have officially opened applications for homeownership, which means we will be building again! We are now accepting applications for the New Richmond and possibly Hammond areas. Applications will be open through the end of February. You can download the application by clicking  here , finding it under the "Our Services" tab on the t op banner of our website, or by calling the office at 715-425-5623.

Do you qualify for our homeownership program or know someone who might? Start your application today! Remember, there are requirements that must be met in order to qualify, which you can also find on our website by clicking here. For more details about the road to homeownership, read through the step-by-step guide, The Road Home and view this informational flyer. Spread the word and feel free to contact us with any questions.
ReStore News

The River Falls ReStore officially closed its doors in December. It was a sad goodbye to a beloved store, but don't be dismayed--it is not the end for the space. We have big plans for our space and we are currently hard at work cleaning, sorting, organizing and dreaming up all the possibilities for the space. Sarah Rose has transitioned from Store Manager to Community Outreach and Volunteer Coordinator and is now working out of the main office on Elm St. Feel free to give her a call, drop her an email, or pop by the office to say 'hello'! Stay tuned for more announcements! And don't worry, the kitties are still taking care of the place for us.

You can still shop at the Roberts ReStore. It is located at 801 Wagner Drive, just about a mile north of I94 on Highway 65 (Exit 10). Stop in, the store is full of great items -- furniture, construction supplies, and all sorts of miscellaneous items. You will be surprised each time you go there! You can contact the Roberts ReStore at 715-760-3456.

The income produced from sales of donated goods at our affiliate ReStores is key to St. Croix Valley Habitat's mission to provide safe and affordable housing opportunities to those in need.

From moving equipment to sorting nails and screws, our staff and volunteers are hard at work creating a new space in the old River Falls ReStore building.  Our thriftiness hasn't escaped us yet!
Looking Forward
2017 Women Build

With another build season fast approaching (hard to believe in this frigid weather currently), we are excited to be doing a Women Build event this year. Keep your eye out in future newsletters as we announce more information. If you would to be involved, please contact Sarah Rose or Tiffany Franck.
Future Partnerships

We are seeking nonprofits to partner with to fulfill our vision of a world where everyone has a decent place to live. Do you have an idea for how we might be able to partner together or want to chat about possibilities?
Contact Sarah Rose or Tiffany Franck via email or call the office at 715-425-5623.
In addition to the 2 or 3 homes we are planning on building this year, SCVH is continuing our A Brush With Kindness program. We are able to help current homeowners with exterior projects in that allow families to remain in their homes and continue to live with the peace of knowing they have a place to call home. We look forward to another year filled with ABWK projects.

Do you or someone you know need assistance with exterior repairs? Check out more information on the program, qualification requirements, and to download the application by clicking here.
Looking to Volunteer?

If you would like to volunteer with us or learn about different volunteer options, contact Sarah Rose at sarah.rose@scvhabitat.org or at 715-425-5623. Our volunteers are essential to the work of Habitat and we would love to have you join our team.
