Greetings!
Welcome to 2013!
As we move forward with our MyCom youth development network, I am grateful to all of you for your continued work ensuring our youth are given all of the tools they need to succeed.
Our 2012 Annual Meeting focused on our manufacturing industry and the workforce skills they need our youth to possess. I would like to thank our meeting partner, MAGNET, for their support and organization of our meeting opening and panelist speakers. My gratitude to Dr. Judith Crocker of MAGNET and her team.
We recognized Mayor Frank G. Jackson with our MyCom Youth Voice Award for Civic Leadership. I thank him for taking the time to accept his award in person and show his support for our youth and their futures.
We move into 2013 with a strong purpose to continue promoting a community where all youth are educationally successful, supported by a caring adult, and feel safe in their neighborhood through our network of MyCom partners.
Thank you for your dedication and effort.

MyCom Partners with MAGNET for 2012 Annual Meeting
Focused efforts on developing our future workforce is a key for local manufacturing employers.
The Cleveland Foundation and MAGNET hosted the 2012 Annual MyCom meeting with Cuyahoga County on Friday, December 7, 2012, at Windows on the River.
The honorees, including Mayor Frank G. Jackson, received awards for their effort to promote the MyCom vision to inspire and prepare young people in Greater Cleveland to reach their potential and contribute to their community.
As a part of the event, MyCom presented its accomplishments for 2011/2012. Highlights included 2,579 students taking advantage of after-school programs, over 1,230 students involved in tutoring and acadmic enrichment, and 3,132 youth employed during this period, including summers.
"By successfully focusing our youth employment efforts on real-world job needs, we are able to equip our youth with skills that will be valued and successful in Cleveland's new economy," said Lisa Bottoms, Program Director, Human Services and Child & Youth Development, The Cleveland Foundation.
With that goal in mind, there was a panel discussion led by Dr. Judith Crocker of MAGNET, the Manufacturing Advocacy & Growth Network. MAGNET partnered with MyCom to educate and connect young people in Greater Cleveland with manufacturing opportunities in the region. Panel participants included representatives from Kitzel, Rockwell Automation, Cuyahoga Community College, GrafTech Holdings Inc., and Metal Alloy Reclaimers, Inc.
