Sharing with your child your feelings of appreciation and love for them is critical for your child to grow and be healthy. Here are few fun ways to share some kindness with them. Kids love getting notes and mail.

Developmental researchers have identified self-regulation – the ability to respond effectively to various stressors and return to a state of equilibrium – as central to the ability to learn. 

How can parents help their child with self regulation at home?

Strategies for HOME for the
Emotional Domain
  • Spend time talking to your child about his/her day; validate their feelings
  • Yoga Class or yoga at home
  • Calm area in the house to retreat if needed
  • Learn new things together (sewing, crocheting, board game, drawing)
  • Literature: Pete the Cat, I Love My White Shoes or How are your Peeling?
  • Talk through an event that might cause anxious feelings
