The Rebel Body and Making Social

Opening Reception January 27th 1 to 4pm

Currently in the galleries: The Rebel Body , a solo show by Johanna Breiding and  Making Social , organized by Matt Rich.

The Rebel Body, brings together multimedia works and various collaborations to explore historicized accounts of political persecution.

Making Social is an exhibition based on a pedagogic approach to social experience and art.  The show is based on a course taught by Rich over the last decade about social experience as a medium in art. Combining curatorial and pedagogical approaches, Making Social displays documentation of artworks, texts and projects from course materials that explore how lived experience can create new meanings and applications in art and design.

The Rebel Body and Making Social will be on view until March 17, 2018.

Angels Gate Cultural Center  invites you to share your videos and photos of life within and surrounding the Port of LA. For this project, we are welcoming everything from
local perspectives to viewpoints from other communities connected to the port.

You don’t have to be a professional videographer/photographer!
Phone-Camera experiments are also welcomed!

Here are a few suggestions from Angels Gate on what you can do to get started in order to contribute content: Have an interview with a neighbor, capture your favorite view of
the port, and/or share your own experience by speaking in your videos or even
narrating (you don’t necessarily have to be in the shot).

Please don’t overthink, go out, shoot & SUBMIT!
Your material will be shown at Angels Gate Cultural Center in April 2018.
The submission deadline is February 28.

Send youtube/vimeo/facebook-links or photos to  info@angelsgate.org
or drop off your video and photographs at Angels Gate Cultural Center

Please be sure to include your contact information in the email and use
"Life with the Port" in the email subject line.
