"The human brain produces a number of "feel good" chemicals-from Serotonin and Dopamine , to Norepinephrine, GABA and Endorphins-all of which work together to produce feelings of well-being.
When levels of these "feel good" chemicals are low or blocked from the brain's receptors; pain, discomfort and agitation will result. This "Reward Deficiency" is associated with mood instability, anxiety, hypersensitivity and depression.

Sad Sad news, the passing of David Bowie from cancer. I've sat here this morning listening to his music and watching my childhood pass before me. He was unique and a trend setter in the world. May his music and memory live on forever.

I don't think any one thing carries more memories with it than music. Music has been an ever present friend throughout every stage of my growth. I listened to my parent's music while riding in the car as a small child. Shortly after, I started to notice the music my older siblings listened to. Next, of course, I started to develop my own taste.

Addiction In The Music Business
"We see it too often," said Neil Portnow, president of the Recording Academy, which in 1989 established its MusiCares Foundation to provide a wide range of services to musicians in need. Through MusiCares' MAP Fund, established in 2004, treatment programs and sober living are accessible to those who wrestle with addiction.
Portnow notes that even though the medical establishment has long identified addiction as a disease, one characteristic is that "it's not infrequent that somebody who has this problem isn't willing or able to acknowledge that they have a problem."
