The Biota of North America Program (BONAP) provides in-depth information on the entire vascular flora of the continent north of Mexico.  Their Taxonomic Data Center features scores of unique search & sort capabilities plus a database page that incorporates Google Maps technology.  The North American Plant Atlas shows state/county level distribution maps of all vascular plant taxa and includes data on soil types, climate and temperature zones.
