Basketball
With the end of the girls' basketball season, boys' basketball starts. Thank you, Brandee Thompson, Tanna Aguilar, Jen Campbell, and Bob and Susan Natt for all your help with the girls' season!
Our boys have started the new year out with several games the first week back to school. Brandee Thompson, Valerie Holmes, and Lexie Valenzuela are our boys' basketball coaches. Let's go EAGLES!!

A Servant's Heart
Sage Johnson is a Senior at our school. He is always ready to help and has a great attitude! He's our "go to" I.T. guy. He organized the High School Banquet with the help of Kayla Natt, kept score for our school basketball games, and does so much more. We are so blessed to have seen him grow into such an amazing young man.
NLCS Christmas Program
We had our Christmas Concert on Dec. 13th. To start off the evening, Great Beginnings Preschool shared several songs with us. Then, with the addition of the student choir, the original worship band, who made the "Christmas" CD,  played several songs from that CD. With the town setting and "carolers," students also spoke about the real meaning of Christmas. After the production, families and guests had a time of fellowship and cookies together. Thank you, Starla Teasley for all your work on the set design, Anita Horner for putting the script together, Cindi Rose and Tara Johnson for the extra help during practice time, and Susan Natt for conducting the music and everything else that needed done.

Preschool and Kindergarten
This month we are learning about snow, arctic animals, and       reading Gingerbread Man stories from many different cultures like, "The Runaway Tortilla."  Here are Jaxon, Pierce, and     Gunner playing with simulated snow in our sensory buckets.
The children listen with interest as Grant talks about his favorite toy on Share Day!

Jaxon is discovering that the warmth from his hands make various colors on this Touch Board!

1st and 2nd Grade
Mrs. Thompson is our wonderful P.E. Teacher. Rainy days are not a problem for her! Students are getting a workout with rhythm sticks. Super fun!!

1st-4th Grade
Mrs. Rose reading her funny book called "Hey, that's not what the Bible says" for 1st-4th grade chapel.

5th and 6th Grade
Christmas time was a fun season in the 5/6 grade class with many different art projects. They each made dough ornaments and painted them. They also made snowflakes out of clothespins, and made some pretty intricate paper snowflakes.

Students played a game the week before Christmas Break with more than 30 candy bars wrapped in 400 feet of Saran Wrap! Whatever they unwrapped they got to keep as the person beside them tried to roll doubles. It was a pretty intense morning.
In Science, we are studying about the earth and rocks. We broke open two different geodes and were surprised to see what was hidden in such a boring looking round rock.

7th and 8th Grade
We had a hard time with the post-Christmas "Sleepy-Slump", but regular activities have slowly resumed.
For the 8th grade, discussions about graduation have begun with Mrs. Kilmer and parents. There is much to plan to make this event meaningful and memorable. Parents and students suddenly have a lot to think about because graduation meetings are now added to fundraising for the 8th grade trip. Hopefully, much of the business can be done by email.
Some the the 7th grade girls are excited that they produced the first edition of "Junior High News and Views", a newspaper that will come out monthly for both our class and the 5th/6th grade. Contributions may be made in the box in the 7th/8th classroom. This is an entirely student-run project with minimum oversight by parents and teachers.
High School
The high school Ugly Sweater Party was a fun night of food, friends, and a hilarious game of Family Feud!
