Please join us for our first Immigration Info Session of the year.
The panelists, lawyers Tanishka Cruz, Eddie Summers, and Doug Ford will be answering your questions.
Some of the topics that will be dicussed are the following:
  • DACA
  • TPS
  • ICE
  • Notario Fraud
  • Nomenclature of “permission”; work authorization vs. status... And more!

Literacy Volunteers of Charlottesville and Albemarle is sponsoring two citizenship preparation classes this spring.
The class for  beginners  will be held on  Tuesday mornings from 10:00 - 12:00  and will begin on February 6, 2018. The class for  intermediate  students will be on  Wednesday mornings from 9:00 - 11:00  and begin on February 7, 2018.  
Both classes will be held at the Jefferson School City Center and will run for 12 weeks. 
Students who are not  already enrolled at LVCA will need to call to make a registration appointment: 434-977-3838. 
The cost is $20 for the textbook and materials.
 

THOMAS JEFFERSON ADULT AND CAREER EDUCATION (TJ ACE)

Serves adults in the Charlottesville region including Albemarle, Charlottesville, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa, and Nelson Counties. Our goal is to provide quality services and convenient access to adult education. Through strong community partnerships, we strive to offer the best instruction to area adults in GED Preparation and English for Speakers of Other Languages—ESOL instruction
College and Career Readiness (CCR) Core Skills help you prepare for the GED plus a whole lot more! 

We will help you build core skills in reading, writing, math, science, social studies, computer and workplace skills needed for your next career step. CCR Core Skills help you prepare for the GED, NEDP (National External Diploma Program), CRC (Career Readiness Certificate), VPT (Va Placement Test) for college, and other workplace certifications.

The ESL session begins January 8th and ends March 29th. Open assessments will begin January 3rd through January 30th .

  • Sin Barreras/Without Barriers is looking for a bilingual (Spanish/English) volunteers to help staff the office on weekdays.  

  • Literacy Volunteers is seeking compassionate and enthusiastic volunteers to tutor adults in reading, writing, or speaking English.
