Be Still, and Know that I am God.
Psalm 46:10
The problem with New Year's resolutions is that they generally involve making us busier. We come off the Christmas and New Year's break and we're busy with work. Then we add these resolutions to our already busy lives. That leaves us even less time for our families and for our God. Busier isn't always better.
Our Saviour's is a busy church. Like the rest of life, our spiritual and volunteer lives can suffer burnout. Work, school, service groups, church, vacations, sports, everything A&M...it all adds up. Where does "Be still, and know that I am God" come into play?
This January and July are being designated quiet months at Our Saviour's where we won't put any special events on the calendar. We'll focus on being still and listening to God. We'll worship and study and meet our normal meetings, but after a busy fall and Christmas and then Easter seasons we need to decompress and just focus on God. When's the last time you stopped to meditate or even find a place of stillness in life? Think what would have happened in the Christmas story if Mary, Joseph or the wise men hadn't listened to God.
Be still and listen. God has something important for you to hear.
Blessings - Pastor Pat
Five Minutes with Kristi Nash
I was born in Bryan, TX in 1975, where I was raised and graduated high school. I then stayed in the community, and graduated from Texas A&M in 1999 with my degree in Accounting.

My family includes Matt, my husband of 15 years, and our two daughters, Kendall, 13 and Maci, 10.

Currently, my profession is in Accounting. I am a Certified Public Accountant and I work as an Accounting Supervisor for Bryan Texas Utilities, where I have been for the past 3 years. Managing people is not as easy as it looks. I have learned a lot and have to keep reminding myself that it's ok if everyone doesn't think the same way I do.

My perfect days include hanging out at home, either working on projects in or outside the house, or just relaxing with the family. We recently added a pool, after a five year planning period, so I envision lots of fun pool memories with our family and friends.

I don't really have any hobbies right now. My schedule is pretty full with my volunteer commitments and my children's competitive cheer schedule. I cherish this time with my kids as I know someday, sooner than I think, they will not need me like they do now!

You might be surprised to learn that when I was 19 years old, I donated bone marrow to my brother who was diagnosed with Leukemia. I was the only family member that was a perfect match. It bought us a little more time to spend with him on earth until the Lord made him our guardian angel.

I couldn't live without coffee, diet coke, and my faith in God. All three of these get me through each and every day!

My philosophy for life is to do your best and let God do the rest! I also strongly believe that everything in life happens for a reason, so try to see each triumph or roadblock with a deeper purpose and decide if you are going to treasure it, or learn from it.
