Grab your cocktail attire! The 2017 Annual Celebration will feature a new experience and theme to celebrate and highlight our community. The evening provides an opportunity for mingling and networking as well as a venue for members in the business community to celebrate their collective successes. During the evening, the Chamber will honor the 2016 Distinguished Service Award recipient Herb Lemcool.
After delicious food and drinks (cash bar), a  NEW Post Reception Party will be hosted in the top floor  Aerie lounge to keep the celebration going.

Great Bowls of Fire! The Downtown Chili Cook-Off is Upon Us:   The Downtown Chili Cook-Off will take place on Saturday, January 14, 2017, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Park Place Hotel.
The Downtown Traverse City Association hosts this scrumptious fundraiser to help raise funds to support free annual community events such as Friday Night Live, the Halloween Walk, holiday activities and many others! The Downtown Chili Cook-Off is a large undertaking and they could not pull it off without the support from the many volunteers that are willing to roll up their sleeves and help  make the event a success! Volunteers get a FREE chili sampler!
Volunteers will help with sale and recycling of beverages, clearing/cleaning tables and collecting chili ballots! Whether you attend for a warm bowl of deliciousness or volunteer with your fellow YPs be sure to check out this great event and help support downtown events.

City Recruiting for Boards & Commissions
The City of Traverse City is currently seeking several new volunteer committee and board members. The vacancies include seats on the   Planning Commission, Human Rights Commission,   Board of Tax Review, and the   Local Officers Compensation Commission. TCYP L.I.F.E. Still Going Strong: Get Involved!

The newly developed TCYP L.I.F.E. program began in September and is in need of more volunteers to speak/mentor. The goal of this program is to provide an opportunity for high schools students to learn key skills that are critical to their professional success - in high school, college, and their careers. The group is seeking volunteers to dedicate 90 minutes, once per month which consists of a 15-20 minute presentation from a YP lead presenter, followed by a 45-minute breakout session with hands-on skill building.

Come Volunteer for Business After Hours in 2017
We are always looking for YPs to work the check-in table at the Chamber's Business After Hours (BAH) events. There will be plenty of chances to meet and mingle with fellow 
YPs and Chamber members at BAH in 2017. For more information, or to sign up for one of the upcoming BAH evenings, contact   Lisa Pointe.
The next BAH will be held on January 18 from 5 - 7 p.m. at Cambria Suites. We hope to see you there!

Lauren Harris  - Was recently promoted to Sales Executive at Priority Health for the northern Michigan region. In this new role, Lauren is responsible for educating and quoting large employer groups and representing agents with 50 or more eligible employees.

Lauren has also been appointed to serve a second year term as the Traverse City Young Professionals Chair in 2017.
