January at Maple Street Book Shop!
Maple Street Book Shop is restocking in the new year and is accepting
used books for cash or trade!

You can bring books by between 10am-3pm, any day of the week.

We do well with literary fiction, philosophy, history, sociology, and children's books. That said, Maple Street is a generalist store and is happy to take a look at whatever you have.

We do not buy:
-Textbooks
-Serial romances
-Reader's Digest condensed books
-Books that are significantly underlined or highlighted
-Books that are water-damaged
-Books that are out of date (older computer books, out-of-date travel guides, fad diet -books no longer in demand, older business books, etc.)
-Hardcover mysteries older than 2 years
-Hardcover genre fiction that has since come in to print in paperback
A New Book Club at Maple Street!

Maple Street employee Jasper den Hartigh is starting a book club! The first meeting is February 11th at 5PM at Maple Street Book Shop. Refreshments will be served.

The first book is Yuri Herrera's Signs Preceding the End of the World

Yuri Herrera does not simply write about the border between Mexico and the United States and those who cross it. He explores the crossings and translations people make in their minds and language as they move from one country to another, especially when there's no going back.
Traversing this lonely territory is Makina, a young woman who knows only too well how to survive in a violent, macho world. Leaving behind her life in Mexico to search for her brother, she is smuggled into the USA carrying a pair of secret messages one from her mother and one from the Mexican underworld.
