Artists' Gallery will be open on Sundays beginning in January thanks to volunteer Theresa Foley! She will be in the Gallery 10am to 2pm during the  Sunday  Emerging Artisans Program, she may be painting a cat...on canvas. Her cat art is available in the Gallery which helps support the Venice Cat Coalition and the special kitties she cares for. Stop by and buy a unique gift for yourself and some one you like.

We have more of Marcy Lombard's wonderful watercolors (tubes and framed), thank you to her family for sharing her story and artwork with TOS. She was a well known artist in Englewood back when the Lemon Bay Art Gallery was on Dearborn, her originals are available at nominal cost.

Thank you to all who made purchases at the December Fine Art Show and in the Gallery, you help encourage our artists and allow them to continue creating new work. We are still open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 10am to 2pm. (If you'd like to volunteer, we'll open more often.) Welcome back to our returning member Artists, can't wait to see what you create this year!

Pottery Studio Classes

Greetings and Happy New Year wishes to all of our friends, studio members, and supporters.

It is that time of year again and business is picking up as it always does. We start getting inquiries from people visiting the Open Studio grounds and our Pottery Studio, as to the classes we have available, and they fill up before we can even post them. Such a great problem for us to have, but frustrating for those wanting to take a class.  Some of the classes we offer are Mary's popular Coastal Colander Bowl class, Introduction to Wheel Throwing, various Wind Chime classes and more.

We are doing things differently this year for the  Friday Night classes, as they are no longer of the drop in variety and instead are all pre-registration required.  This allows us to better gauge interest and avoid over-booking. We utilize several different qualified instructors to hold classes at our studio.

We currently have openings in our  Friday night Mermaid Wind Chime and Lighthouse classes. Other classes are continually added and we are currently scheduling for  March.  Best way to find out about classes is to email   tospottery@gmail.com for more information or visit our Facebook page,  www.facebook.com/theopenstudiopottery

Thank you for your continued interest in our studio.

Art Classes with Dee

Hi everyone! My name is Dee. I've been giving the Expressive Arts "Go with the FLOW" classes on Mondays 10am to 12:30pm and Fridays from 2 to 4:30pm at THE OPEN STUDIO. As an Expressive Arts Practitioner, it's my job (and my joy!) to move participants from one art modality to another, to keep our creativity FLOWing. This movement from one mode to another makes for a wider/deeper range of expression. It expands the way we see ourselves, our creations, the world and best of all, it's fun! One of my students has taken 6 weeks of classes so far and said, "I never know what new things we're going to do each week and that makes it exciting!" Another calls it her "Happy class"! One told me, "It's fun experimenting with all this, I don't want to stop!" and "It amazes me how fast the two and a half hours go by!" I invite you to come out and see for yourself. No art experience needed...artists and not-yet-artists find these sessions help TURN UP the volume on their creativity switch.

I also had the pleasure of facilitating the creation of a "COMMUNITY COLLAGE" in the Expressive Arts building during The Open Studio's Garden Party on December 18th. Here's some photos of the participants...the finished collage creation will be on display during the "Emerging Artisans Program"...come see!
Psst...rumor has it there will be ART "HAPPENINGS" during the Sunday events. That's when, and where, everyone and anyone is invited to PLAY and have FUN!!! May the CREATIVITY force be with you all in 2017! Stop by and say "Hi"! I'd love to connect and create with you. Artfully, Dee
