Got a Minute, This is Bob!

As I turn the calendar, I look back on the previous year with gratitude on how the Lord has once again blessed our year.  I don't do resolutions, but each year I make a decision that this will be the BEST YEAR EVER. That means it will be a fruitful year filled with promise, joy, challenges, sunshine, rain, surprises, changes, and amazing grace.  Some personal milestones for Jode and I include the recent wedding of our oldest daughter, Hannah, and our 25th  anniversary this upcoming year.

As 2016 is Ironwood Spring's 40th anniversary year, I have already been challenged me to go back to the small beginning in 1976 of seeking wisdom for what God wanted me to do with my life after my accident in 1973. The best way to describe it is through the words of the apostle Paul in Ephesians 3:20, "Now all glory to God, who is able, through His mighty power at work within us to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think". We have served approximately 700,000 people; volunteers have exceeded 160,000 hours; over 2,000 people with disabilities have been served; and 700 military families have been served. The JOY that has been spread and the many lives that have been changed will continue each year.
Finish Strong Update

Thank you to all those who helped us FINISH STRONG in 2015 with a donation to our year-end giving campaign. We received a total of $85,000, just shy of our goal but more than enough to be overwhelmingly grateful for. Your gifts helped us end the year in a strong financial position and will go towards several exciting new initiatives in 2016. We couldn't do what we do without our supportive Ironwood family!
Winter Activities

Winter activities are well underway at Ironwood! Check out our website for the snow tubing calendar and sign up for a session today. The new ice skating rink is groomed and ready to go - call the main office if you are interested in using it. You may also want to schedule a sleigh ride through the snowy woods of Ironwood. To book, call the Arena at 507-533-9933.
Adults with Disabilities

Join us for our first ever Winter Wonderland Day at the Ranch on February 6 from 10:00am - 2:30pm! This event is open to all adults with disabilities and their staff. It will be a fun day of outdoor activities (dress warmly!), crafts, music, and indoor s'mores by the fireplace. Click here for more information and details on how to register.
President's Day Pancake Supper

The annual Pancake Supper fundraiser will be on Monday, February 15 from 5:00pm - 7:30pm. Bring your family to enjoy all that Ironwood has to offer in the winter, including snow tubing, horse-drawn sleigh rides (with bunnies, of course!), snowshoeing through the woods, and ice skating. We can provide snowshoes but please bring your own skates, if possible, as we only have a few available. Donations of $5/person for the supper are appreciated. We will also be raising money for camper scholarships that night.
National Wheelchair Sports Camp
30th Anniversary

In 1986 we started the National Wheelchair Sports Camp, unaware that it would grow to become the largest camp of its kind in the country. This year's camp will be June 11-16, and to celebrate the 30th  anniversary, we are going to set a record of 400 wheelchairs all rolling at one time for three minutes on Saturday, June 11  at 2:00pm (we need your help!). Also, we will play basketball against the Rolling Timberwolves, followed by a concert with Tony Melendez and a North/South Bowl game. We are expanding our impact on families with members who are physically challenged by providing a new Wheelchair Family Camp, June 18-21. This camp will allow families to have a vacation without the worries of accessibility and acceptance and to build community with other families sharing similar experiences. More details are found on our website.
Miracles Happen Festival
Committee Members Needed

The 8th annual Miracles Happen Festival is scheduled for July 29-31, 2016. If you would like to help us plan this year's festival, please email tracy@ironwoodsprings.com. We need people to help with organizing, hospitality, marketing, or sponsorships - if you have any of these skills, we would love to have you involved! Let's make this year's festival an even bigger event.
Part-Time Cook Needed

We are looking for someone to help with cooking during the mid-day on weekdays to make lunch for staff, volunteers, and retreat groups. 10-15 hours a week during the non-summer months and potential for 30+ hours during summer. Other tasks would include cleaning, freight handling for food deliveries, and other kitchen-related tasks. If interested, please send email to  tracy@ironwoodsprings.com.
