If you are running behind schedule, call the Beaver main line at 617-738-2700. As a reminder, parents of students attending NuVu this term do not have conferences at this time.

PARENT ASSOCIATION UPDATE

In December, Beaver’s legal counsel, Daryl Lapp from Locke Lord, led a discussion of the Massachusetts’ Social Host and Liability Law with many Beaver parents in attendance. Using examples from Massachusetts law, Mr. Lapp detailed both the civil and criminal risks parents and students take when hosting a party and serving alcohol in their homes. After the formal part of the presentation, a lively conversation ensued. Parents shared concerns, stories, and strategies for dealing with the contradictions inherent in the 21 year old drinking age and their worries for their children’s safety. RECAP OF THE HUNTING GROUND
Over 150 US students, parents, and teachers attended screenings of the award winning exposé, The Hunting Ground last month. The Hunting Ground tackles the complicated issue of under-reported sexual assaults on college campuses and the culture and practices that further contribute to the social toll on these communities. Beaver identified this film in response to student and parent interest in a broader conversation about healthy relationships, personal responsibility, and the impact of sexual violence. Read more here.
