January Update
  Greetings!

Welcome to school marketing in 2017!

Our main article this month is the first set of results from our School Marketing Survey - a great way to see if you are using the same tools as other schools and to compare your budget! Congratulations to Jermain Rennels of Northumberland Park Community School, Tottenham for winning our £25 Amazon voucher for taking part. We'll share more of the survey next month!

You can also find a link to our latest 'Video Essentials' advice - how setting up a safe Twitter network across your schools can engage staff and parents and allow you to access great content.

We also have December's best school marketing, a link to an article from school governance expert Penny Rabinger which talks of her own experience of school marketing, and a great offer on our online Schools Communication course. And please check out our 'Networking and Jobs' page - jobs are back and our goal for 2017 is to create a real community with events both on- and offline!

Best wishes

Advice and Inspiration
Our third annual school marketing survey was carried out in November and December 2016. Fifty-two schools took part - 22 state and 30 independent (thanks!).

The first batch of results look at the marketing challenges faced by schools, how they responded in 2016 and how they are planning to respond in 2017 - a real opportunity to benchmark what your school is doing.

In February we will add more information about changes in school marketing departments and how schools are developing their social media use.

It sometimes seems that social media network Twitter is driving all news in the world. Here's a quick video guide to harnessing its power by setting up a network for your school.

We watch over 3.500 schools each month to share the best school marketing via our  Good News from Schools Twitter feed.

As you might expect in December, our top 5 ideas mix festive ideas & preparations for 2017 recruitment. What they all have in common is that they're looking to build up communities for the long term.

School governance expert Penny Rabinger wrote this excellent blog focusing on how she nearly missed an excellent school for her children because the school wasn't sharing what it was doing well. Well worth a read!
