May 13, 2015

Ever since Buddings decided to create our own time zone ( more on that here), conventional calendars have lost their authority over us. Meteorologists might be waiting for another month, but we're calling this one early:

It's summer!

How could anyone doubt that summer has arrived? The trees are in full leaf! The lilacs have come and gone! The birds are singing, the sun is shining, and everywhere we look, people are... smiling!

The season of celebration is here!

Summer means parties! Fieldtrips! ... and beautiful women! The pictures in this newsletter are some of our favourites. ;)

Jen's due date is a summer one! And there are summer camps, summer parties, summer, summer, summer! Even though the season of bustling activity has arrived, we're all still sitting around waiting for word on Denet...

Summer has arrived early, and it's going to be a GREAT one!

Goodbye-Congratulations-Baby-Shower Party: May 20, 2015

Jen Labelle is having a baby, and all the kids at daycare are so excited. They want to know how she's feeling, they want to feel her belly, and they wonder when the baby will "come out." (She's due the first week of June.)

They wish Jen would have her baby at Buddings, so that they could all help out, but Jen has decided on a home birth, and we're ready to support her choice. ;)

June is fast approaching, and our resident lady-with-a-baby is stepping back. Her last shift at Buddings is Thursday May 21, and we're having a Goodbye, We Love You, Have a Healthy Baby Party on Wednesday May 20.

Jen is certainly not the only one glowing with life around the daycare. We know so many pregnant moms, and moms with new babies, and our appreciation for all of them has shot through the roof!

Mother's Day is more than an annual breakfast-in-bed, on a single Sunday per year. It's the reminder that the mothers in our world have done an amazing thing. And we love them for it every day, and for the rest of our lives.

... and that's why our Mother's Day arts and crafts are going out this week, instead of last week... Enjoy!

Summer Camps and Field Trip Program - Coming Soon!

In honour of Summer, and warm weather, being outdoors, and camping, we're pleased to announce that our Summer field trip program - Big Kids Abroad - will be returning this year for the months of July and August.

Our own Sarah MacDonald will be heading up the adventures, as she steps into the Coordinator role, creating a format for week-long camps, two fieldtrips a week, and the chance for the kids to explore our city!

We'll be visiting the fab FREE events and destinations that make Vancouver the best place on Earth, especially if you're a kid.

The program schedule is coming soon, and in the meantime, you can check out our calendars from 2014 to get an idea of what we'll be up to.

Waiting for Denet...

With Jen's Goodbye Party on the schedule for May 20, the next step is to set a Welcome Back party for our girl Denet on May 21!

... that would be nice.

Her VISA application is in processing, and we've received a 15-digit alpha-numeric tracking code where we can verify its status: pending.

The plan is to have her return as soon as possible, but we don't know when that will be. It's all very exciting, and we're making some back-up plans for the last week of May, and the first few weeks of June, in case Jen leaves before we get the final word.

This is the part of the process where we all just need to cross our fingers, and... wait.
