Ahhh yes, Amethyst - the color of royalty, conjuring up the huge goblets made of it in medieval times. Folklore has it that Amethyst could ward - off intoxication when drinking from it. Large, rich color specimens have always been sought after, for it's beauty and variety. Because it's a quartz, it can be found the world over, with fine rough coming from African (Zambia) and Uruguay regions. Amethyst........the birthstone for February.
