Jewish Family Services
Has the Holiday Spirit!
  December 2016

Dear Friends,

JFS Volunteer Coordinator Sheila Monheit with over 250 Hanukkah food packages packed by Yavneh 6th graders
The holiday spirit has definitely hit us at Jewish Family Services! We have had many generous donors and many, many volunteers from all over Silicon Valley contribute to Embrace-A-Family, assemble Hanukkah food packages, assemble bikes for kids, tour JFS - and so much more. Our office is packed with gifts, volunteers, donors - and love. I'd love to personally show you all this magic at an agency tour this month on December 20th from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.

Happy Hanukkah
and Happy 2017!

Grief and the Holidays
JFS co-hosts workshop on Dec. 18th

Adjustment to the death of someone close to you does not simply come with time. The work of grief demands that you deal with all the feelings that loss engenders. This work takes psychic and physical energy that can leave you unable to deal with the extra demands of the holiday season.

JFS is cohosting a "Grief and the Holidays" workshop with Congregation Shir Hadash on Sunday, December 18, 10:00 - 11:30am in the Shir Hadash chapel.

Lisa Warner, LCSW, JFS Director of Clinical and Social Services will lead this FREE workshop, open to the community. Sign up at Shir Hadash's website by clicking here.

Embrace-A-Family for Hanukkah
There's Still Time for You to Brighten Someone's Life: Now thru December 23rd

JFS SV invites you to be a part of our 9th annual Embrace-A-Family program, which brings hope and smiles to those in need.

Your gifts will help ease holiday pressures and stress for needy families, senior citizens, and adults. Frail, isolated seniors are often overlooked at this time of year. Providing gifts for them is a special mitzvah that will make a huge positive difference in their lives.

What You Can Do to Help!
Look for JFS SV dreidel boards in the community from now through December 23rd. The boards are at these locations:
JFS Embrace-A-Family Gift Board
- Levy Family Campus
(main and Yavneh/APJCC Preschool lobbies, and upstairs at JFS SV offices)
- Congregation Beth David
- Congregation Emeth
- Congregation Shir Hadash
- Congregation Sinai
- Temple Emanu-El
- Temple Beth Torah
- Hillel of Silicon Valley
- Pars Kosher Market
- South Peninsula Hebrew Day School
- Gan Ronit pre-school/daycare
- Liat's Family Home pre-school/daycare
- Almaden Market
- Aircraft Covers, Inc. (Morgan Hill)

Select a gift dreidel from the board, purchase the gift listed, and bring your unwrapped gift to the JFS SV office at the Levy Family Campus, 14855 Oka Rd, Suite 202, Los Gatos.

Your gift will bring a smile - and be a blessing - to someone in need.

New Dreidels for 2016 include $36 Emergency Food Bags for families, seniors, and individuals; and $36 or $50 donations for Emergency Fund for Refugees.
