Injury Corner:
Seismoiditis
Seismoid
Seis-a-what? Seismoid (pronounced says-moyd) - think big toe joint. If you are having a lot of pain in your forefoot, especially toward the inside, you could have Seismoiditis. It is something that can show up gradually, especially if you have recently increased activity. Treatment should include rest, ice and perhaps a metatarsal pad to take the pressure off the seismoids. You may also need to consider adding an arch support to your shoe, as that will help propel your foot to toe-off.
