Job Posting: YWCA Bergen County Seeks Temporary Assistant Teacher!
 
The YWCA of Bergen County is seeking a Teacher's Assistant for a temporary position at our Early Learning Center located in Upper Saddle River.

Our Early Learning Center provide infants, toddlers and young children with high-quality care in an enriching and stimulating environment. Our mature, experienced staff creates a safe, nurturing atmosphere in which children are encouraged to develop intellectually, physically, socially and emotionally.

Under the supervision of the Head Teacher or Group Teacher, the Assistant Teacher assists in developing and implementing an early childhood program in keeping with sound principles of child development and which encourages participation of children from diverse ethnic, racial, religious and socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of lesson plans as a daily guide to the implementation of the program.
  • Prepare materials used by children in activities.
  • Assist with maintenance of up to date required records for the children.
  • Attend monthly staff meetings, in-service workshops, and professional meetings.

  • Be a representative of the YWCA and its philosophy within the community.
  • Share information or concerns about children with the head teacher.
Qualifications
  • Education/Experience: Minimum High School Degree, AA or CDA preferred. Must have at least one year experience working with children under six years old.
  • Knowledge: Knowledge of sound educational principles of child development.
  • Skills and Abilities: Ability and commitment to work with young children
  • Physical Requirements: The physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Working in a classroom setting, position is required to sit stand, bend, carry, lift, etc.
Additional Comments

Assistant teacher must attend 10 hours of training per year to be in compliance with NJ state licensing.

This position will 'float' and substitute for absentee staff. Must be able to work in both infant/toddler and preschool environments.
