Options and Opportunities
Get Involved in Your Association

Volunteer Opportunities

I am a huge believer in getting involved in YOUR Professional Association!  As a long time supporter of the career development industry I support the BCCDA in a number of ways.  As a CHRP myself, I volunteer extensively for the BC Human Resource Management Association and the return on my volunteer investment is huge!  I have received contracts, job offers and access to influential people from the credibility that my volunteer efforts over the years with ASPECT, BCCMA, and BCHRMA brings.  There are a million reasons to get involved and I can't' say enough about the value that you bring to your Association and the value that you receive in return when you volunteer.

So consider these opportunities with the BCCDA.

  • Membership Committee - chaired by Jayne Barron, co-chaired by Victoria Pazukha The membership committee mandate is to seek out member benefits, plan the CDC and ITP Conferences, and increase the public and sector profile of BCCDA. All members are eligible. If you are outside the Lower Mainland & Fraser Valley, please consider applying. We are looking for representatives from the regions. The time commitment? 9-10 meetings a year. Here is a link to the draft  Terms of Reference
  • Professional Development Committee - interim chair, Sylvia Metz; Diana Jolly and Michelle Tindall, Board Members. This committee oversees training opportunities for the association - in person and webinar. This group will work closely with the Membership and Certification Committees to plan CDC and ITP sessions. The time commitment is 9-10 meetings a year. Draft Terms of Reference
  • Finance Committee - chaired by Gordon MacDonald, Treasurer The committee consists of the BCCDA Accountant, a volunteer from the CGA Association and we are looking for a member with an interest in finance to complete this committee. This committee will meet 5 times a year in concert with the budgeting process. Terms of Reference

Here is your chance to influence association programs and policies. Committee descriptions and links to their terms of reference are below. Email Donna at with a brief bio and the committee of interest to you. Call with any questions - 604-684-3638.

Thought for the Week

It was so great to have a week of sunny and warm weather!  Makes everyone just a little happier and brighter!

The usual thoughts this week - hope everyone is taking the time to enjoy the summer and that you are starting to feel like you are getting into the groove at work.

There has been an interesting discussion started on LinkedIn about the Realities vs Expectations in the new EPBC programs.  You might want to check it out and engage in the dialogue!

Please be in touch anytime - I would love to hear all about how things are going for you these days!

Thanks to all of you for subscribing and enjoy your week!
