Johnstown High School Students Internship Awards
Debi Balog, Workforce Development Director

Linda Thomson, JARI president, presented four Greater Johnstown Senior High School (GJSHS) students with $1,000 stipends for completing internships under JARI's Neighborhood Assistance Tax Credit Program education initiative.  Students were nominated by their instructors and were required to complete an essay on why they chose to enroll in a construction or electrical program; an explanation of their internship projects and what skills and knowledge they gained from participating in a work experience. Congratulations to the award recipients:  Craig Adams, Shane Adams, Dorian McClafferty and Liam Soderquist.

"The internship provided us with real world skills and experience," stated Shane, GJSHS Senior.

Liam, GJSHS Junior, said that the experience is helping him with projects at home and achieving his goal as an electrical technician in the Navy.

Dorian, who graduated in June, is employed in the construction industry.  He said that the internship helped him to obtain a position in a short period of time.

All recipients wanted to say "thank you" to JARI for offering the internship opportunities and especially to the companies that contributed to the Neighborhood Assistance Tax Credit Program.

If you would like more information on the tax credit program, please contact Debi Balog, JARI Workforce Development Director at 814-262-8366 or via e-mail at [email protected].
