Since our inception in 1976, LIFT has been providing tangible engineering services and resources to area manufacturers designed to help them grow and succeed. Today, we are providing additional support in the areas of business services and innovation engineering. We also have the distinction of working with the New York State Foundation for Science, Technology and Innovation (NYSTARŪ) and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP). LIFT is NYSTAR's designated Regional Technology Development Center for Long Island.
If LIFT has its way, Long Island will regain its stature as a world leader in technology commercialization. Our rich legacy in aerospace and aviation technology will be continued in areas such as composites, homeland and cyber security and rails, software and IT, bio-medical and energy solutions. To achieve this goal, LIFT is working its mission in parallel with other Long Island organizations, from LISTnet and the Long Island Capital Alliance, to Accelerate Long Island, Brookhaven National Lab and Stony Brook University.
"We are strong believers in collaboration and understand that each Long Island organization has an important role," said Frank Otto, President of LIFT. LIFT is a manufacturing and commercialization engine driving Long Island's technology to usable products. We consider this effort a vital component to success as our region focuses on commercializing the great technology developed in our universities and labs. Long Island has all of the right players in place. By collaborating, each bringing a pipeline focus that reflects our individual goals, we can accomplish great things for the region."
