Featured Volunteer:
Ray Van Dusen

Ray found that boot camp as a recruit Dad was one of the most difficult challenges of his life. He was grateful for the volunteers who took the time to help with the journey and decided to become a volunteer himself. Ray looks at the volunteer opportunity as a way to pay it forward.

Facebook Volunteer, Paul H Neidhardt:
"Raymond has been a huge asset as co -company leader of the Marine Dads page. His wit and wisdom shine through on every post or answer he writes. His contributions have been over the top awesome every time. He gives spot on advice and shows great compassion."

Facebook Volunteer, Marion Lucchesi:
"As Company Leader for Delta Company Parris Island, Raymond's guidance to the members of Delta has made a huge impact on their daily lives during their Roller Coaster journey of Boot Camp. Raymond's dedication, counsel and leadership to the Delta Co. is inspiring not only to the members but also to his 1st Battalion peers. He is truly a gifted leader and team player.

Featured TMP Participant:

Team Marine Parents (TMP) is a group of individuals, generally parents, family and friends of Marines, who participate in athletic events nationwide to support our troops. The mission is to raise funds and awareness of the organization's outreach programs.

This week's featured runner is Erika Devenney. Erika began running to stay healthy, but now has told her Marine that she will commit to running the Marine Corps Marathon every year he stays active duty.

Infantry Training Battalion

The homes of the School of Infantry (SOI), Infantry Training Battalions (ITBs) are located at Camp Pendleton, California and Camp Geiger, North Carolina. Here, over the course of 59 days, newly-minted Marines will be instructed on modern Marine Corps infantry tactics in order to conduct expeditionary combat operations.

After the Corps: Health Benefits

Enrolling for health benefits through the VA is typically a very time-consuming and confusing process. We would recommend that you speak with someone who has already gone through the process, or with a patient service representative (PSR) at the VA before beginning the enrollment process. Remember, you are not alone in this process and there is always some sort of assistance to be provided if you are lost.
