PAR Mail 2017-243
Please plan to attend the House Human Services Committee Hearing on the DSP Crisis on December 6, 2017 . The hearing is from 9am - 11am in room 60 in the East Wing (click here for a map of the Capitol's handicap accessible entrances). It is critical that we show the members of Pennsylvania's House Human Services Committee the statewide impact of the DSP crisis. Please plan to bring DSPs, individuals you support, family members, and other staff to the hearing to show members of our General Assembly the broad impact of this devastating workforce crisis. Please email if you plan to attend along with how many people you are bringing.

You are also encouraged to take advantage of the opportunity to visit your state legislators' offices in the Capitol on the same day to discuss how the DSP Workforce Crisis is impacting you and your organization. To schedule a visit, look up your legislator's contact information here and email Andrew Ritter at or Rebekah Glick at if you need assistance.

This hearing was originally scheduled for October 3, 2017 but was rescheduled to December 6, 2017 due to a last-minute change in the House's legislative schedule.

Social Innovations CEO Nicholas Torres and Woods Research and Evaluation Institute President Dr. Scott Spreat will testify on a panel with the results of the DSP Compensation Practices Study . Other testifiers include Cheryl Dougan, mother of Renzo who was featured in the Fix The DSP Crisis video , PAR Member SpArc with Director of Administration Mia McGuire and SpArc DSP Samira Gray, and parent and past president of The Arc of PA M.J. Bartelmay. Click here for the full agenda.
