On March 4, 2002, history was made in Bensonhurst as Councilman Vincent Gentile and the community pioneered the first day labor center in New York City. Today, the Bay Parkway Community Job Center is one of the most established day labor centers in the city and a model for other centers across the five boroughs. Wages were raised from $8 per hour to $22.50 - the highest wages set by a day labor center in the region, all while cutting down on wage theft, improving health and safety conditions and fostering good community relations in southern Brooklyn.

We are delighted to be joined by New York City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito. She will be joined by the Deputy Leader Councilman Vincent J. Gentile, other elected officials, local business owners and community leaders.

April 11th is a chance for us to remember and celebrate these accomplishments and continue to pave the road to justice together.

Kindly RSVP to Ligia Guallpa at 646-479-4769 or ligia@workersjustice.org.
