Greetings!

Workplace substance abuse is a growing problem in the United States. Many think that marijuana is the number one abused substance in the U.S, but actually alcohol is the most abused substance. And the associated human and financial costs are staggering. Unfortunately, many employers make the mistake of assuming that because alcohol is a legal substance there's nothing they can do to prohibit employees from being under the influence of alcohol while on the job. Just the opposite is true. To effectively address workplace substance abuse it requires a balanced approach that includes both drug and alcohol testing. And oral fluid testing represents an attractive alternative to traditional testing methods that may be a perfect fit for many companies.

Oral fluid testing can:

  • Help increase a company's drug testing ROI,
  • Help employers efficiently and effectively test for alcohol,
  • Increase the likelihood of identifying illegal drug use immediately after ingestion of a drug, which is ideal in post-accident and reasonable suspicion circumstances, and
  • Eliminate drug test cheating
Join well-known drug and alcohol testing expert Bill Current along with Jim Randisi of Randisi & Associates, Inc. for an informative and timely presentation on the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse in the workplace. They will also explain the latest substance abuse statistics, how drugs and alcohol affect the workplace, and the state and federal legal considerations of oral fluid drug and alcohol testing. Most importantly, they will also describe the advantages of oral fluid drug and alcohol testing.

James P. Randisi is president of Randisi & Associates, Inc. and has been helping employers protect their reputation, their clients and their workforce through employment screening and drug testing since 1995. He and his firm are passionate about helping employers avoid individuals who have exhibited dangerous behavior in the past, are falsifying the employment application, and are using illegal drugs. While working with a third party administrator of general liability and worker compensation claims, Jim realized that if an employer spent time investigating an applicant before being brought into the workforce, significant savings could be realized and exposure to litigation reduced. His firm has an active clientele list of more than 200 large and small companies. It manages multiple requests for reports on more than 1200 individuals per month. State of the art software allows the firm to reduce turnaround time of employment screening and drug testing reports to half the industry average. Randisi & Associates is a member of the National Association of Professional Background Screeners and the Concerned CRAs Association. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the Pennsylvania State University and holds Certified Public Accountant certificate.
