2016 Milwaukee Film Festival

Milwaukee Film Festival Black Lens Presents 9 Rides
Saturday September 24, 9:30pm
Times Cinema
5906 W. Vilet Street, Milwaukee

MULYP is proud to be a 2016 community partner for the Milwaukee Film Festival Black Lens Program.  We will support the film 9 Rides, which was shot entirely on an iPhone 6s (the first movie ever to do so!)This film portrays an unnamed Uber driver (a remarkable performance from Dorian Missick) who is checking in for the busiest day of the year, New Year's Eve. Over the course of the evening and his numerous fares, he'll witness couples falling in and out of love, belligerent police officers, and solo passengers; all of these brief interactions exacerbating his own growing anxiety in the face of recent life-changing news.

To support the festival and this particular film with us, join MULYP for the 9:30pm screening of 9 Rides on Saturday September 24.  Discounted tickets to the film are ONLY $8 each when purchased through MULYP.

To reserve your ticket, email socialandcultural@tmulyp.org  with your name, telephone number, and the number of tickets you would like to reserve.  Payment will be due in cash prior to the event.  Tickets are limited and will sell out fast so reserve yours today!

Health and Wellness Spotlight

Young professionals have been asked to make their voices heard! The City of Milwaukee has recently launched a community health improvement campaign called MKE Elevate, a comprehensive effort to improve Milwaukee's health. MKE Elevate is a community-driven process supported by the mayor and health commissioner that engages residents in deciding Milwaukee's most pressing health issues.

Here are three ways to make your voice heard:

1. Submit your photos of what makes Milwaukee healthy or unhealthy.

Let your photos tell the story of how you see health in your neighborhood! Email up to five photos and your ZIP code to mkeelevate@milwaukee.gov. All submissions received by September 30th will be entered into a drawing to WIN A FITBIT

2. Take the priority issues survey.

This brief 12-question  survey  will help inform the selection of priority issues that need to be addressed in order to improve the health and well-being of the Milwaukee community.

3. Provide feedback on the Community Health Assessment.

This assessment examines the health status and conditions that impact the Milwaukee community. Please refer the  MKEelevate websitefor the details and feedback form.
