Understanding the ACA

The Marketplace simplifies your search for health coverage by gathering the options available in your area in one place. With one application, you can compare plans, and explore any free or low-cost programs you may qualify for.  Although the Heath Fair will take place after the enrollment deadline, representatives will be on hand to discuss your options and answer questions.  (See TennCare article in the left column.)

Health Disparities - Obesity and Oral  Health
Obesity

Oral Health

Oral health disparities are profound in the United States. Despite major improvements in oral health for the population as a whole, oral health disparities exist for many racial and ethnic groups by socioeconomic status, gender, age and geographic location.  Find out how you can close the gap for your family regarding good oral health. Stop by the Oral Health Parlor for an oral health screening.  Read more...

Additionally, there will be fact sheets on the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of Minority Health National Partnership for Action to Reduce Health Disparities Region IV Southeastern Health Equity Council (SHEC) that was established to reduce health disparities in eight regional states. (Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee) Click here for more information on health equity. There are ten of these in the US covering all fifty states and US territories.
