We are continually humbled as the Lord expands and grows Women of Hope Sierra Leone (WOHSL) in new ways.
In January WOHSL staff reported that there are approximately 800 women registered within the program, participating at various levels of commitment. This year the first 15-week Transformation Training class is taking place in the town of Kamakwie. Each week women affected by disability attend an all-day training facilitated by WOHSL staff. The training they receive includes lessons on health promotion, disability awareness, discipleship, basic community development principles, conflict management and more.
Women of Hope Program Manager, Ruth Kamara, shared how she has been encouraged by reports from the women in the Kamakwie class. "We used to hide in our village, but now we can come out and sit where others sit,” they shared.
Attendee, Alice Samura said, “We see ourselves as diamonds now! We always knew there was something good in us, but because of our sickness, people despise us. Because of these trainings, we are the ones helping others in some of their issues now.”
Attending class has become a source of pride for the women who have had little access to education. We invite you to celebrate with us how God is moving in Sierra Leone, transforming the lives of women affected by disability!
