Recognizing Inequalities in Our System!

Campus Equity Week is an international event "to bring greater awareness to the precarious situation for contingent faculty in higher education, organize for action, and build solidarity among our colleagues" (read more here)

For the 4Cs, Campus Equity Week is an opportunity to highlight many inequities in higher education.

Did you know?
  • UConn spends over three times as much as the Community Colleges on instruction per student and one and a half times the amount on student services per student.
  • 15% of part-time faculty in CT require some form of public assistance.
  • About two-thirds of the faculty at Connecticut's community colleges are adjuncts with little job security and most receive no healthcare benefits.
  • Educational Assistants are not paid for days when the college closes because of inclement weather.
Equity means fairness in pay and job stability for ALL faculty and staff. Equity means justice for students who deserve the same investment in instruction and services, no matter where they choose to pay tuition. Equity means an affordable higher education, both for our students and our members who are still paying off student loan debt.

Campus Equity Week will be the kickoff of a larger campaign for the 4Cs as we continue to focus on these inequities and find solutions.
