One in every nine seniors is at risk of hunger. The Meals on Wheels Association of America projects that by 2024, an estimated 9.5 million senior Americans will experience some form of hunger or "food insecurity." Hunger carries serious implications for seniors and could mean the potential for increased hospital stays, increased health complications, early entry into assisted living facilities or premature death.

With September being Hunger Action Month, Comfort Keepers has launched their Feed Seniors NowTM food drive campaign. This campaign aims for two goals: 1) Shed light on this epidemic facing many in our communities across America, and 2) Raise food for those seniors in need.

Though we are committed to doing all we can to ensure seniors have fulfilling, nutritious meals, the issue is not something we can fix alone. For that reason we are asking for your help. Here are some ways you can help Feed Seniors Now.

Comfort Keepers is holding a month-long food drive.  You can donate non-perishable senior-friendly food items two different ways:

  • By dropping off your food items at our office at 722 Village Walk in Guilford any time during the week from 9AM to 4PM before September 30; and
  • By visiting us at the Guilford Wellness Fair on the Guilford Green this Saturday, September 15, 2012, from 10AM to 2PM.

Thank you so much for helping our seniors in need.  Below is a list of suggested donations.
