Senior Adviser at the United Nations Foundation and former UN Assistant Secretary-General for External Relations
Ms. Sorensen has achieved a distinguished career at the UN serving two Secretaries-General, Kofi Annan and Boutros Boutros-Ghali. During her service Ms. Sorensen was responsible for 4,000 non-governmental organizations. Ms. Sorensen is also a national advocate on matters relating to the UN - U.S. relationship.
Marking the day in 1945 when the UN Charter went into effect, United Nations Day (October 24) is a worldwide celebration recognizing the importance of a global body dedicated to prosperity, peace and justice.
